This is one of the coolest promotions to come out in a long time. Currently, Wendy?s has a promtion worked out with AirTran Airways in the form of travel coupons and, if you take advantage of the program in the right way, this can be very profitable for you. For their current promotion, they are placing coupons for 1/4 credit for an A+ Rewards Credit voucher on their 20oz and 32oz cups betweeen 11/1/05 and 12/31/05. For 8 A+ Rewards Credits you get a free one-way coach ticket.

What exactly does this mean? Well if you get 32 drinks you get a free one-way coach ticket! 64 drinks gets you a round-trip ticket. 128 drinks gets, you guessed it, 2 round-trip tickets! Incidently, in the promotion stipulations 128 drinks is the most you can cash in per AirTran Airways Award accounts, but 2 round-trip tickets to anywhere in the US is pretty freakin sweet.

Here?s the math. Say one 20oz beverage is $1.29 (I?m sure this won?t work with water purchases but it couldn?t hurt to try)

64 drinks * $1.29 per drink = $82.56

Now, for example, I just searched for a round-trip ticket from Atlanta, GA to LA, CA and (if I?m reading this page right) the total price was $291 for one-way and $582 for round-trip. Of course, this was a last minutes search of flights that left today - so I?m sure if you planned ahead you could get better deals.

travel

$582-$82.56= $499.44 = the amount of money you save/make on this deal!!

$499.44/64 drinks = $7.80 of profit you make on every drink you purchase. And that?s not to mention the enjoyable beverage you have too!

Now, if you want to take this to the extreme (and I encourage that) you can try other methods, including but not limited too:

- dumpster diving
- stealing other?s cups from their table
- bribing a Wendy?s employee for the coupon cups out the backdoor
each of these methods would decrease the $82.56 investment and theirby increase your profit. This game is wide open and ready to be taken advantage off!

the bad thing is Airtran's route SUCK.

I'm kinda pissed they dropped the Seattle to Chicago route.

from KC all you can do is fly to Atlanta. You can fly almost anywhere else from ATL, but you'd have to pay for 2 tickets and fly halfway across the country for no reason. You can't even fly from KC to Denver direct.

Reminds me of the infamous Healthy Choice promotion from a few years back. They offered 1000 airmiles for every 10 UPC symbols, no limit. Some guy found sample containers of Healthy Choice pudding that were on sale for only 25 cents. He did some math, then he bought $3,000 worth of those pudding cups.

Since he couldn't physically remove 12,000 UPC codes in time, he worked a deal with the Salvation Army. They would remove the UPCs and give them to him in return for him donating the pudding. He even got a tax deduction for the donation!

For his $3,000, he ended up with 1.2 million airline miles to use with no time limit.

Now that was a deal!

Didn't they put that in Punch Drunk Love, too?

Does this deal include taxes and all the other odds & ends? Otherwise it deflates the savings quite a bit when you're paying airport taxes on roundtrip tickets.

So, if I want 2 roundtrip tickets, how many drinks do I need to order exactly? Do I need a full price ticket for an 8 year old child? I may use this to take my son to DisneyWorld.

You know, I was going to take advantage of this offer. Then I read your in depth, fact based/backed review, and I decided I'll never use Air Tran.

You sir are a saint for correcting me in my eronious ways.

check your flight routes online. Doubt they serve anywhere near South Dakota...they have pretty limited routes.

By the time you're done drinking all those sodas/eating all that wendy's, you're going to need to buy 2 tickets for your fat ass! :p

I'm going to see if someone at wendy's will sell me 128 drinks without anything in them.

Some details to think about...

Only 5 transactions at a time...(so you can only buy 5 drinks at a time?)
The points take up to 6 weeks to credit to your account.

i've managed to flirt with some of the girls working at nearby mcdonalds', taco bell's, burger kings' and fazolli's, and gotten free food out of it... i might need to set my sights on a wendy's next :)
