The return policy at this place sucks. Just don't buy anything there, and if were lucky they will go out of business.

They over charge on most things too, but you can't beat free. There not as bad as HH Greg though.

I went tonight. They paid me $2.00 to take the headset from them. $12.99 - $15 Receipt printed out and said 'limit 2' so they paid me another $2.00 to take another one. The nice surge protector was actually only $15 too. $15 rebate on it. On the box I read "$100,000 protection guarantee". Swiveling head is nice too.

Thanks. I guess CC has a cash flow problem. They need the float. Hope they don't go bust before the refunds come through.

Note: It says on the CD box for recording MUSIC. It doesn't mention data, although other boxes say for data. Does this matter?

The ad was wrong on a number of minor points (I state this from actual in store experiance):

The surge protector is rated 2530 Joules.
The surge protector is made by Recoton.
The headset with microphone is made by Jensen.

Jeesh, don't they proof read anything?

To me, anything but an APC or a Tripp-Lit is just a power strip. I don't trust other brands. Any EEs out there who can vouch for any other brands?

What do you mean by they paid me?

Headset cost $12.99 - - Rebate is for $15.00
BenRosey will get paid more than he/she spent.

We have now extended our return policy for the holidays so that you can be completely satisfied with your purchase from CircuitCity.com.

Items that were purchased or received as gifts for the holidays can be returned through January 10th 2001 OR 30 days (except Computer related product, see below) after either the shipment has been delivered or the product has been picked up from the store, whichever is greater.

Actually the front of the surge protecter box only says
SpikeMaster. Recoton is in small print at the bottom of the back. But, low and behold, inside the box the surge protector and documentation say InterAct. And on the back of the documentation, in small print, it says InterAct Accessories, Inc. A Recoton Company. Jeeesh. The corporate jungle is getting pretty dense these days.

Anyway the specs on this surge protector are pretty intense. It blows away my $40 Tripp-Lite Super Surge alert:

...................Tripp-Lite....InterAct
Max Energy joules: 720...........2530
max spike Amps:... 36,000........162,000

If only I could trust them.....

Joules are pretty important...consider it as a shock asorber for surges...more is better.

Of course, even more critical is clamping speed....no amount of joules will help if a big shock whacks your circuits before the breaker cuts it off.

In general....you get what you pay for.
