to edit them you need acrobat. Just as you would purchace Flash for creating and editing flash movies, same goes for PDF.

If you want to create a document from scratch - download openoffice 2.0 and choose export to pdf for whatever you create.

If you want to edit exisiting PDF documents, you need Foxit Pro or Acrobat.
