Free A/R - USB Wireless LAN Adapter!!!

Was at PC Mall because of an email they sent me and stumbled onto this! Looks like it might do the trick. Qualifies for free UPS shipping after rebate. This will work if you haven't used the shipping rebate on the free DVD/R deal they had. Go for it!!!

If you can't use the shipping rebate, UPS ground will be somewhere around $7-$8. Still not too bad....

Thanks, NuclearFetus, for the post. I was going to jump in on this, but I took a quick look around, and found basically the same deal, but with free shipping at eCOST. That link is http://www.ecost.com/ecost/shop/detail.asp?dpno=345833. So anyway, you might also be interested in this.

I just went through the eCOST purchase, and at the end saw a $3.95 "Handling & Processing Fee" magically appear on the bottom line. This is absolute BS--I really dislike companies that do this--in fact, so much that I'm going to bail on the eCOST purchase myself. No, they won't get my business if they can't be up front with stuff like this. I'd rather them add it into the original price instead of trying to slip it in under the radar.

great deal if you want a cheap wireless solution (especially for desktops... those PCI cards can get expensive) but ONLY IF the quality is decent. i've gone through my share of garbage wireless pc cards. does anyone know how these fair?

i'ver heard syntax is ok... and these are using the latest Intersil Prism 3.0 chipsets, which is surprising. now all i need are a free AR wireless AP and i will have reduced my HTPC's cable clutter for free 🙂 - well, except that handling fee, i suppose.

OK, I feel a little confused. I'm looking at the free shipping rebate they have, but it looks to be for limited dates in December. Is there another hot setup for free shipping? This is ideal for me, I think I need both!

When I ordered mine, just selecting standard shipping gave me free shipping (plus the silly $3.95 "make up some profit difference with mysterious handling" fee).

not bad, especially for close to FAR. Since my friends notebook onboard wireless died recently I'll have to let him know of this.

stoner87, I don't think you need a 'shipping rebate'. Shipping is free if you pick ground:

[Order Totals]
SubTotal: $29.95
Shipping: $0.00
Handling & Processing Fee: $3.95
Tax: n/a
Grand Total: $33.90

I just ordered mine.
However, I cannot find the production company's official web site at Google.
It must be some small subcon from Taiwan.

I have a mac laptop running OSX with an 802.11g airport card in it. Could I set up a network if I plugged this into my pc (running win xp)?

Be careful. The rebates state that no photocopies of the receipt are allowed and that only one rebate per purchase. I plan on calling Monday to ask if it is possible to do multiple rebates on the same original receipt but until I find out I'd stick with only the wireless adapter since the 7in1 doesn't cost enough for free shipping.

You can also add in the FAR 7in1 card reader.
At eCost the $3.95 is only charged once. At pcmall you can the shipping rebate for both.

What shipping rebate are you going to use at pcmall? The only reference I can find on the site is in the rebates section and its for free shipping for certain dates in December. Is there one that's active now? I haven't found one elsewhere...????

It's my understanding that the Home Networking Option is not activated on DTiVos for the time being. But there is a movement to get it activated - not sure how successful they are. Check out the DTiVo forum at TiVoCommunity.com for the latest.

This should work in Linux right? I'm thinking it would as it seems the Prism 3 chipset is supported. Would there be any problems with the USB interface?

I was looking into possibly doing the same thing. Here is was the ECost Rep said to do: make a photocopy for yourself and send in the real one for rebate #1. For rebate #2 call Ecost and they will e-mail you a receipt to print out and send.
