Damn it's cold this morning!!

I don't even have to move my crunchers outside. Last time I checked my CPU temp it was sitting right on 45C. It's fairly warm in the corner of my desk also since I never shut my system down.

NOT THIS MORNING!!

{cut/paste}
Current temp: -16°F
Fair Feels Like
-28°F
{/cut/paste}

Twenty more degrees and we'll be able to throw a glass of water in the air and watch it freeze before it hits the ground!! :D

ive got HORRIBLE single pane windows at the condo i rent so what i have done is put my crunchers right next to the windows and their temps have dropped 10c. they are probably gonna get some condensation build up but oh well :)

Unforgiven - you can probably alleviate the condensation problem with a sheet of light gauge translucent plastic over the windows using some double sided tape... that will also take care of any drafts and help with heating... lol... like any of us need help with heating! :p I have to do that with every window in the place I rent, and they are double windows in aluminum frames... apparently when the place was built, insulation was not a prime concern despite the fact that I live in Vermont!

I laughed this morning after hearing about all the snow that fell in Kansas and Ohio.

Heck, if that happened here, everyone would be happy as He||. They could finally ride their snowmobile which they paid $6,000.00 for.

Then CNN goes and talks about how people are standed in their cars?? You got to be kidding me!!
If their stupid enough to not check the weather forcast before they leave, they they can think about it as they sit there in the cold waiting for the National Guard to save their sorry a$$.

Per my motto I tell everyone, "poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency upon mine."

Tell me about it LanMan. I'm smack dab in Columbus, and these people must have migrated from the South, for the sure don't know how to drive in the snow.

6" of snow here, some ice, and their acting like it's some major winter blizzard.

What kills me is seeing idiots in their 4 wheel drive SUVs stuck in the snow and off in ditches. Geez Louis, I'm getting around fine in my little S10 pickup. Granted, I've put some weight in the back, but still, it's only 6".

But then I learned to drive in KC with 12 to 16" of snow, and had to get around in my dad's 2 wheel rear drive vehicles that always had bare tires. This is nothing. :)

My basement is usually bearable (especially with an electric heater and three crunchers slaving away) but it's so friggin cold that for the past few days I've had to build fires (in the fireplace :p). 17F, feels like 1F and my P4's CPU temp dropped from ~58C to 53C. Not as cold as some bot damn it's cold.

Here in Indy it's the same thing.... You'd think we are in line for our 3 hurricane or something. I have a ZR-2 Blazer, so it'll go about anywhere I like. I watched a Hundai get stuck when it tried to follow me into the unplowed lane to avoid a line at a traffic light...... A middle aged blonde in a Korean car... yeah that's just exactly who I dreamed of sharing a snowy road with. (~10" overnight)

DOH!!! You're in Indy? I was in Rushville a couple days ago, I even stayed in Indy on Sunday night. We should have hooked up for a drink somewhere. I tried to hook up with conjur but that didn't work out. I sure am glad we got the project started up so I could leave Tuesday afternoon though - I was NOT going to drive back home in that snow.

CsG,

I saw that thread, but it was too late. You did well to avoid the white stuff! I think it'd be a great idea to try and hook up when you are in these parts. I'm kind of old and tend to fart when I drink... but I'll try not to embarrass you.

-Sid

fire me a PM next trip and we'll tip a

Well Lanman, whether on yours or someone elses........ poor planing is the whole of the matter!

It took billions of years to create and store the hydro-carbons we so freely exploit every day. Its, taken less than 200 years to return 50%, of the Di-oxens stored, back to the atmosphere.
I joined the SETI search for more than one reason. First of all.............is there an intelligence greater than ours. Can they advise us, So we don't destroy ourselves, and that is where we are heading.

Second................................Can we pass on our knowledge and experience, so that other worlds don't destroy themselves. Because that is where we are going.

For those who think they have a complaint of how Cold it is ........................."It is very Cold In Space" .....Khan.......Star TrekII 'The Wrath Of Khan'

Laugh if you want............................. It's only a movie..............BUT, ...................it is also fact.

Well.............. there could be so much more said...........and there already has been. And, If you think I'm preaching..................." Repent your sins!"

Enough said for now..............................

Another sermon next week....stay tuned .............same time ............same station

How did you manage to incorporate 'save the world' and "the wrath of Kahn" into a single reply...
especially a reply to "it's cold outside"

I guess this mornings windchill of -24 is nothing because right now at 8:30pm we already have a windchill of -25 and it will be getting colder tonight. :frown:

Your absolutely right.

If it's going to be this miserable, hey, why not bring 2 feet of snow so I can enjoy it? We have snowmobiles just sitting here waiting for nice bright morning to hammer across country at 50-70 mph.

Nothing like snowmobiling to the local resturant for breakfast! :D

This post may seem double standard, but.... being just cold sucks. Good thing about snow - when it's falling it's NOT 20 below zero. (Usually warmer)
Temperatures this cold sucks the moisture out of anything!

It's colder this morning.

What is my temperature?

The thermometer is reading the same number for F and for C.

 why do I live here

Edit: at least there is very little wind.
