Not to thread crap, but I have had vile personal experience with Olan Mills. They lure you in with a "free" 8x10 and then lower the boom on you for anything else you want to buy.

The sales person basically tried to make me look like a cheap bastard in front of my spouse when I wouldn't buy any of their grossly overpriced pictures. It was pretty ugly. I told them to shove it and left!

Tread catiously on this one . . .

Yea... picture places in general really try and bend you over...

You say "I want this" and then they say "Well how bout this with this and you'll save 10% on that..." They are worse than car salesmen... no offense to car salesmen.

I just happened to be in the IS dept at the Corp Headquarters for OM..... They often have those deals come up and they are decent. Just let me know if you wanna know anything about their deals and what not. I know pretty much everything about what deals you can get.

Scarpozzi - what's the most cost effective way to get a large portrait on canvas.
Want a pic of my son to hand on the wall.

Well...this is the deal. Price other places cause I'm not sure what they charge. This is the problem you'll face when you go to a professional photographer....expect to pay for the service. I don't know the exact pricing, but I would expect to pay anywhere from $69 - $89 for a canvas, but you can probably get a 10% off or try to jump in on a package deal to save more money. If they have a $6.95 package, it's always the smallest but best deal. Keep in mind each order is shipped from the plant your door or to the studio individually so they're gonna add shipping in handling(4.95), but they don't charge a sitting fee like a lot of portrait companies do. I would suggest if you're wanting to get a good deal, there was a deal for a 15 sheet package and a canvas for around $129....but I can't be sure cause pricing is regional.

What I would do though is attempt to get your hands on a portrait rewards card somehow.....for every $180 you spend you'll get to use the card for 50% off. I work with the mainframes and what not so I'm not in sales or developing. But I do know this. STAY AWAY FROM GIFT CERTIFICATES....I wouldn't buy them or give them as gifts. The reason is because when those hosers in POS called in some programmers they didn't place a GC option in the application so they had to add it in after the program was written. Therefore all GCs are added as discounts and they can't be used to pay shipping and handling or tax, nor can they be used to purchase orders less than the face value of the GC. I've also found other problems with them, but I just called the head of Customer Service last week to see if I could take care of those issues (can't talk about them on here). Hope that helps.
