It says:

<< Account must be funded with no less than the opening minimum deposit required for a minimum of 30 days prior to receiving $50 bonus. >>

So how much do you have to leave there until you get the bucks?

As a customer who got his funds locked for 6 weeks during the CompuBank/Netbank fiasco, I would recommend staying far away from Netbank.

I think NetBank is great. I have been a customer for over a year, and haven't paid any of those listed fees. If you are looking for a good bank, this is it. The only drawback is that you have to mail in any deposits, but since I have direct deposit from work, that only happens when I get rebate checks in the mail. I use the free Publix ATMs with no fees (Presto). The things I like the best is that I pay no fees, get all the services, and they pay me around 2% interest on a checking account! And yes, I did get the $50 when I opened my account over a year ago. This is an old promo.

Another reason I chose them, is that they are actually located in Alpharetta, Georgia, which is right down the road from me. When I sold a car last year, I was able to drop off the $5K check in person to their B&M location, as opposed to mailing it in. If you live in Atlanta, then it is an option very similar to a credit union.

I thought about trying this just to get the $50, but to use as my checking account I would not. Consider trying your local credit union. My checking is free and they pay around 2-3% interest if your avg. daily balances is 1k or more. Been using one for about 4 years, and have never paid a fee, and earned a few bucks a month to boot.

- farstar asked: does this bank rebate you for ATM fees like Next bank did? -

No, they do not. That is why I go to the free Presto ATM's at Publix, there's one real close. I think there are others that are free like at Credit Unions and RaceTrac Gas Stations. You can also get money out when you use the Debit Feature at Grocery Stores or Wal-Mart for extra cashback. So that hasn't really been a problem for me. Check out the details here:

NetBank

They have links to search for Surcharge Free ATM's. Links below:

That's enough for me to stay away. Consumer Reports is horrible.

I have two checking accounts and a money market account with them, and I have bill pay on both checking accounts. I have not paid any of the fees listed above, and I've been with them for over a year. If you are seriously looking into it, go to their webpage and read about it, or just call them.

i'm also in atlanta - and i've used netbank for over 6 months with no problem...i've now got my mortgage with them also (5.5%)

no problems, no fees...one merchant tried to claim he never received my payment via online bill pay...called netbank & they busted his ass...they faxed me & him copies of the check they had mailed him with his signature and demanded that he waive any late fees he had tried to charge me

i keep one account at a local atlanta credit union so i can get cashier's checks/money orders or if i have to deposit cash...but overall i've been very happy with netbank...i originally signed up just for the $50 bonus but i do 95% of my banking with them now

anyone signup recently who is just getting the $50 and getting out?

seems to be like you have to deposit $50, wait 30 days, and then withdrawl all but $7.50,
since there's a $7.50 service charge for closing accounts with balances under that amount?

Does anyone know why they want to know my gross annual income just to open a checking account? I'm halfway through the "application" process and it feels like I'm applying for a credit card, not a checking account.
