After reading a cool article on 3D printing on slashdot I went to the website of zcorp, who last month offered the first commercial color 3d printer. For those of you who dont know what it is, a 3D printer is a printer that actually creates objects using layers of materials drawn on top of eachother.
It turns out Z corporation is giving away free 3D prints to anyone, granted you send your object in STL format. This seems INSANELY cool - anyone know which free apps export cad in STL?

Just click the big link on their front page @ www.zcorp.com

*All files sent to Z Corporation are kept confidential. Included with your part will be the build time and the material cost.

--> free, but have to pay for materials?

Owen--"build time and material cost" I think is the estimate to build your object, i.e. if you send a 3D drawing of a building, or of a machined part.
