Nice deal.

Not sure if I'd want this or the AOL active virus shield for my clients, though. Hrrrm....

I've been pretty impressed with Active Shield....but wonder when the "free" part is going to end....

My system can handle the NAV use of resources pretty well and was using it before Active Shield, which I like very much.

There are always plenty of upgrade deals for NAV and I will return to it if AOL ends it's free offering.

Rest assured that AOL AVS is not going to end anytime soon. :) Free AR Norton is better than having to pay for it, but in the end your pc suffers due to the bloat. :p

I use AVS it's free, easy to use and definately not the resource hog that NAV is.

Sounds like a case of the lesser of two evils - AOL vs NAV.

AOL's AVS = Kaspersky version 6 with a different skin, so no, it's not the lesser of two evils. Kaspersky is as good as it gets.

If you get a test system and infect it with as many virii as you can and then if you can find a program that can detect more virii than this one:
http://www.free-av.com/antivirus/allinonen.html

I sure would like to find out what it is.

AntiVir continues to detect more than the competition AND it does not use too many system resources.

I haven't used the free av but I have used grisoft avg for years . I was dismayed to see it find trouble only 80+% of the time . The kaperski updates hourly , and I like it alot so far . As stated, dont load the task bar that it wants to give you .

I am not referring to the AV directly, only the 75 other programs that AOL seems to want to run all the time to activate additional functionality.
