I just registered my Sony digital camera online and after the 2nd registration page it asked me to fill out a questionaire and offered $20 store credit. I got a code after completing both the registration and questionaire.

Please don't abuse this. I believe that you must have a valid product serial number to do the registration.

I just bought a new digital8 camcorder and received the $20 coupon for registering. The coupon is only good at sonydirect for sony accessories. BTW, I pricematched the local Sears with profeel.com and got a DCR-TRV120 for $599! It was on sale after xmas at Sears for $749. The poor guy right in front of me bought one for the Sears price. To pricematch a website the Sears store asked me for printouts of the webpages showing the item/price/US warranty/ and the sites phone number.

I registered my dream machine clock radio that I got for $12 from Buy.com. I got the two page survey, but no mention of any GC.

I registered my Sony DCR-TRV520 Digital8 camcorder and got the $20 off, too. Used it to buy the $35 camcorder bag at sonydirect.com for $15. That and 20% off on the camcorder itself with the MSN eshop deal ... sweet :D :D

ditto- I registered a spread spectrum phone bought from buy.com in November, a fairly annoying survey and no mention of a GC. It's also kind of strange registration when they don't require the products serial#.

Apologize for bumping this but a return email from them arrived today: that offer only applies to camcorders [didn't say digital and/or vhs] and good only on camcorder accessories *full text of their email reply follows:Thank you for contacting SONY.

We apologize for any misunderstanding. The $20.00 credit is for
registering your Sony camcorder, not a phone.

The $20.00 discount is only available for purchases of eligible IN-STOCK
accessories. You must register your camcorder on-line to get your personal
code# and be eligible for the $20.00 credit. To receive your $20 credit
off of accessories you may go to:

http://www.sony.com/productregistration

and follow the registration instructions. Once you have successfully
registered your product, you may order your accessories.

You must call our Sony Extras toll free hotline at 1-888-866-7427, and
someone will be happy to assist you in placing your order.

Please have all of your information available, including your name,
telephone number, personal code, and model and serial # of your
camera/camcorder.

Your credit card will be charged the full amount and within 2 weeks your
credit card will be credited the $20.00. It can take up to 2 billing cycles
to show up on your statement.

The answers to many customer questions may be found at:

1gemini1,
I registered my Sony DSC S70 three weeks back. I got the confirmation of $20 store credit. I ordered a Case for the camera and I got the credit in my credit card account within 2 weeks. You should have got credit if you had registered the product within 30 days of purchase.
