Members of fileplanet, can sign up for a free 14 day trial of star wars galaxies here

The download is nearly 2gb, but anybody who's on broadband shouldn't have a problem with this. Saves you having to buy the boxed version only to find you don't like the game (like i did)

Just a warning so people don't waste their time downloading it. Most SOE "free" offers require you to sign up for a month before they will give you the free time tagged on to the end.

No Thanks.

Once you have activated the trial account key, you will then be able to play the Game for up to 14 days. You must activate your trial account key on or before 11:59 pm (PST) on July 31, 2004 or you will not be eligible to participate in the trial program. An Internet connection is required to play the Game. The Game is intended for play only within North America and Europe. In order to continue playing the Game, you will need to buy a copy of the Game at a retail or online store and activate the retail account key. Activating the retail account key terminates the trial period. A valid credit card or paid game card (if available) is required to activate the retail account key and additional recurring fees are then required to play the Game. Other terms and conditions must be accepted to activate the retail account key and then play the Game.

Funny, it said the exact same thing on the Everquest box I purchased long ago but when I tried to activate it I wasn't able to log into the game until I was a subscriber. I've been playing everquest for years now and have seen this time and again from Sony. Not that it really matters anyway, it won't take more than 2 hours to determine how much SWG sucks, easily the biggest dissapointment released last year.

Lemme know how badly it sucks. If it doesn't suck TOO bad I might try it out, hahaha.

well i was on the beta, and i payed $70 for the game and strategy guide when the game came out, and i stopped playing after the first month.

at least with this offer, those people who are curious can play for 2 weeks, and work out for themselves that it sucks.

Agreed, I sat in eager anticipation of this game for a year, then dropped full price for the retail version when it came out. By the time the deadline to pay for my 3rd month came around, I was done and promptly cancelled.

Easily the biggest dissappointment I've had in terms of awaiting a video game, wish I had had the option for a 2 week trial back then, good deal for people that haven't tried it yet, apparently a select few actually like the game.

Yeah this game really really is bad. It might of been ok if it at least felt like the Star Wars universe but it honestly feels nothing like Star Wars. I mean they have character names and creature names but honestly they could of stuck any name on those creatures and made it any universe and it could of been x mmorpg. You honestly would not of noticed the difference as it is that generic and bland feeling.

I really hope it fails so that MMORPG developers learn to not just create crap and buy a liscense for it and think they will make lots of money. Oh and Fileplant is bad as well. I subscribed once in the past and got slower speeds than their free speeds. Now subscribing to another gaming service and much more satisfied.

Same here. This game sucked. I was so looking forward to it too.

Now I'll just have to wait for EQ2.

Not exactly free for non-members. Got to pay $6.99 minimum one month Fileplanet subscription.

$6.99 not Hot for 2 weeks of SWG

Well they must of changed it to open public download and Trial. I could of sworn that last week it was for File Planet's suscribers only which is why I balked. I have already beta and thought it sucked and my curiosity was not strong enough to pay Fileplanet a monthly subscription to download the sucka.

Perhaps not enough people were biting so Sony arranged it with Fileplanet to open the floodgates free for all.

Maybe I'll check out what they have improved since Beta now that it is really a FREE download

Yeah, here's another person who says the game sucks. I paid for my retail box and found that this game is horribly boring. It doesn't feel like Star Wars at all. As much as I love Star Wars, I want this game to fail for the same reasons you stated above.

What gaming service do you subscribe to?
