You should've left that up OV, and then justified how that makes it ok to break a person's neck...simply because you can.

Werepossum is correct. I read and I apologize if I'm incorrect that where the incident happened its legal for the Police to chase someone who runs at a crime scene or in a high crime area. I can see where this can be a problem but that is the expectation. The fact is this guy criminal or not was healthy before being manhandled during his arrest, he then suffered a broken neck, then died. This should not happen it needs to be investigated in a responsible effective manner. How can we expect people in high crime areas to help officers out if they or friends or family get the shit beat out of them for vague reasons?
Well said. Those of us living in good neighborhoods sometimes don't realize that "snitches get stitches" was not created from whole cloth, but is at least in part a reaction to overly aggressive and sometimes brutal police behavior.

We very much need a return to neighborhood cops walking a beat, part of the community, not strangers cruising by in squad cars.

Also how can a bumpy ride in a police van break the larynx and ribs. I have been squashed in a bus in third world countries and didnt end up dead. No one seems to be questioning the 'bumpy ride'. Potholes or not, how can a person end up with broken bones

I'm pretty sure all that was broken before the young man was dragged to the van.

I thought the same until I realized you would be shackled arms & legs then stuffed in a metal box.

Outside agitators are working overtime this afternoon.

more then likely it's the george soros "rent a mob" brought in under the guise of "social justice".

http://www.theroot.com/articles/new...33_000_000_to_bankroll_ferguson_protests.html

The money reportedly helped boost the number of protesters in the community over a period of months by bringing in outside activists, the report charges. And think tanks reportedly used their own online news sites to cover the civil unrest and link it to the police killings of Eric Garner in Staten Island, N.Y., and Tamir Rice, 12, in Cleveland, the Daily Mail writes.

were your hands cuffed behind your back, and thus unable to brace/cushion yourself from being tossed around like a ping-pong ball in an open van making sharp turns?

Look into train and airline cabin designs, why sharp corners on seats and tables don't exist (in favor of rounded corners), and the types of injuries that are easily achieved when tossing a body into hard, sharp surfaces and corners.

Did the police/law enforcement agencies learn anything from Ferguson? Same ole craps (rioting, looting, vandalizing, big rocks being thrown at the police, burning buildings, and so on) from "protesters".

The video shows a limp man being dragged into the police van.
Freddie Gray was most certainly killed by their handling of him.

Would you trust police to handle your friends and family?

We're going through a painful transition period right now. When the dust settles, we'll have police departments that will only be able to attract the worst of the worst and that are also unwilling to do their job. We'll also reap the rewards of a much more lawless society.

So, patience should be the order of the day until we reach that point.
