Wake up at 9. Goto my car at 9:50. My doorlock has been smashed in with a hammer and screw driver, totally screwed up the door handle. Ripped out my $300 car deck. Cracked interior pieces.

Reported to cops...already 10 reports of similar crimes. Its only 11AM!!! Imagine how many after people get home from work! I live in a town of 16,000, how can no one notice 20+ break ins?

Argh, so frustrating. And its not like I can claim the insurance company for money...

Ouch, sorry to hear it, that happened to me a few years back (though not at my home). I'm thinking of getting a cheap webcam or somesuch; my PC is on pretty much 24/7 anyway and it'd be some relatively inexpensive peace of mind.

Most people don't. I wouldn't have if I knew they were going to fvck up my door like that...

No, no alarm. I was planning to buy an alarm/remote starter next paycheck = x10 more frustrating!

I live in a town of 10000. My neighbor's truck's window was smashed in, and they took his radio. There were 2 other cars that were broken into in the same area (about 15 triplexes along the street). Thieves suck.

Do you really have that many black people in Canada?

I know...luckily, now I bought a house in a 1.0/1.0 area (scale of 1-10, violent crimes/property theft). In fact, I think the worse thing that has ever happened in my new zip code is grafitti on a high school wall.

I'm thinking that this year I'll leave the car in the garage and sit in there with a shotgun.

Why cant you report it to your insurance company?

I was wondering the same thing. These types of losses are covered all the time under your comprehensive coverage if you have it. Keep in mind that your comprehensive deductible will apply, so check that first before reporting it.

Holy crap, Killy. That's some astoundingly bad luck. :frown:

Rate increase. I already pay $3350 and I'm 17 with drivers ed and no crashes.

I lose my 'claim free discount'.

pwn3d 😀

Had mine stolen in the early morning of the first day of summer school. Man that was a long day. Thief started at one end of the alley and hit the beginning middle and end on a couple of streets. Never found the guy but someone is enjoying my deck. Funny thing was they left the rest of the stereo equipment (sub, amp, and a bought $10 in quarters).

Thieves suck. Even worse is the people who buy hot products knowing they are hot.

Welcome to the wide wonderfull world of the war on drugs where the increased price of drugs due to the war causes people to be bloody theives to get their fix.

Yeah, I had my car broken into twice... both with attempts to hot-wire and steal the car.. the first time, locks were fine, but completely shattered the ignition cylinder.. second time, completely fubar'd the driver's side door handle.. lock was intact. Had to jiggle the handle funny to get it unlock.

Luckily both times, i had nothing of value, no deck, cds, anything.

Both times were while I was parked on campus (probably punk-ass students), and in Canada 🙂

Damn, sounds expensive to fix. Why couldn't they have just smashed the window like normal thieves?

$400 for the door to be fixed ($290 piece of 1/4" metal and about a foot long for my door...GM dealership part = EXPENSIVE)
$300 for new deck
$30 for install kit
$30 for interior plastic pieces that were broken
$300 for a car alarm

And I'm paying $100 to anyone who can give me information to this POS so I can show him the blunt end of a baseball bat
