To all of those that have purchased the Fireball AS at Buy.com thinking they were getting HDB fluid bearings as stated in the features table on the web site, you most likely did not. Sales seems to have misrepresented these drives to many outlets.

Drives with HDB must have these numbers as quoted from Quantum tech support and confirmed by a factory production engineer.

Here are the part numbers for Atlantis (AS) drives with the H-D-B's
PMP TLA EZTLAs

AS10Y011-01-A-E AS10Y01E-01-E/J
AS20Y011-01-A-E AS20Y01E-01-E-J
AS30Y011-01-A-E AS30Y01E-01-E/J
AS40Y011-01-A-E AS40Y01E-01-E/J
AS60Y011-01-A-E AS60Y01E-01-E/J

If a drive has a ASX0AXXXXXX... Then the second "A" means it has ball bearings. Only Drives with "Y" have the HDB.

HDB is better as it is quieter and more reliable, that is why OEM's want them so much..

Check your numbers !
