i wanted to capture some video so i downloaded fraps 2.0. the problem is.. it totally locks up my computer when i start capturing. i've tried reducing the quality to minimum quality (max performance) and it does the same thing. i've got an athlon 2500+, 512 ram, nf7-s 2.0, and 9500pro, running win2k. anyone use fraps? i'm wondering if there's some sort of "hidden" setting i have to adjust.. like fast writes or disk caching or something like that. any help would be much appreciated!

Do you have it all on the same harddisk?

I've used fraps 1.9 on my computer (asus a7vx8, athlon 2000+, 1 GB Ram, radeon 9700 pro, 2x maxtor 60 GB hdd) and encountered problems while capturing in a game.
The game became totally unplayable.
This was probably caused by the game, fraps, and the videofile it created, all being on the same harddisk, because when I installed fraps on the other harddisk, where it created the videofile, it ran quite smoothly.
So it's quite possible my harddisk was too slow too handle it all at once.
