Fraps Not Working In Vista

I installed Vista Ultimate the other day and a little while ago I installed Fraps 2.7.2 and its not working. It seemed to install fine and will open up fine, but it's not showing the FPS in the corner of the game like it should. I went to the Fraps site and downloaded and installed the newer 2.8 version but it didn't work either. So since my 2.7 version is registered and the 2.8 version isn't I unistalled 2.8 and put 2.7 back on. Now the 2.7 version won't start period. Whats the deal? Anyone know?

I had it working with Vista Ultimate x86 and x64.
Whatever the newest version on there site had was the one I installed.

I was unable to get 2.8.x whatever it is to work properly either. Worth noting that it hasn't been updated since December.

fraps works fine for me in x64 ultimate.

2.8.2 works just fine here in Ultimate 32-bit.

Fraps worked fine for me in Vista Home Premium 32-bit, with one exception: sometimes after exiting a game or starting certain applications, fraps would leave a FPS counter on the desktop, continually overwriting itself. Irritating, but not a show-stopper bug.
