So I got a Logitech G15 keyboard the other day. While it is still new, and doesnt have a lot of support from programs, and games, Fraps has made use of it. I dont always have Fraps running, but I do like to keep track of my frames. I took a few pics of it, to show how it works.

Pic one of the fraps graph, and current frames number I am not sure how long the graph is in terms of time. I forgot to check it.

Pic two of the LCD from within Windows It pops up screens of what you select for it to run. You can check if you want it to run things or not. As soon as the Fraps.exe is clocked, it pops up with that. And then alternates from the Fraps logo, and other things you select for it to run. Such as CPU load, and ram usage, the time and date, etc. The pic is of a what looks like a Widescreen LCD. You cant see it in the pic, but it swivels side to side, which is why its a little "blurry" in the pic. When you load up a game, or application, it tells you on the LCD.

Pic three of within BF2, playing on a server showing the CPU load and ram usage. I have it set to alternate from this, and the fraps graph. I have 2gigs of ram.. and as you can see, its over half of it. Typically in Windows it shows 13% usage already, so its not all the game.

Anyhow, its something I like about it, and Fraps is pretty used when checking frames. This way you can see the frames, and not have the huge yellow numbers on your screen. Just another nice feature for a great KB. If only it was ergo like the MS Natural.. but anyways.

That's pretty cool. I've been checking out this keyboard a bit, most of the reviews have been pretty positive aside from the lack of apps that take advantage of the display. They didn't mention FRAPS, so maybe they weren't well versed in all the apps there are available.

Anything you can program it to do...

Apparently it comes with a developer's toolkit from Logitech, so if you have the time and the know-how you can probably make it do all kinds of "useful" things. There are bunch of little dock apps for X-windows (*NIX graphical interface) that are written by people who dig this type of thing.

Someone has even gotten the open sourced Doom code to work in a dock app. Maybe someone can get Doom to work on this keyboard's display.

Edit: my bad, it's actually a Quake1 dock app...

Ya, I've been testing out the new fraps version for the past couple of weeks with my G15. It works super well for it to be a first attempt (I think they fixed only one bug upon initial release). The frame count updates just as fast on the LCD as it does on the overlay on the monitor (if you have it turned on). Plus, I'd say the line graph keeps up with about 20 seconds, just a guess though.

I feel great things coming for the G15 LCD, only a few months down the road though.
