Frank's RedHot Xtra Hot Cayenne Pepper Sauce is weak!

Their Buffalo Wing Sauce is weak enough, but someone on the forums said they mixed in the Xtra Hot sauce with it to increase the heat. Since the Buffalo Wing sauce was about as hot as the stuff I clean my contact lenses with, I decided to use straight Xtra Hot.

This stuff is seems just as weak to me, possibly even weaker. I had to use almost half of the bottle to even get any sensations of heat. How do they get away with advertising this stuff as hot sauce? It doesn't even make me sweat.

At least it has a bit more flavor than the Buffalo Wing Sauce, although that isn't saying much. :p

I really don't understand the allure of wings. They have 1 good easily accessible hunk of meat. The rest is just a PITA. :p

The XTRA sauce is about 2/3 the hotness of Red Tabasco, based on the scoville scale. The normal stuff is 1/10.

I agree with that. I make "wings" out of cubed boneless breast meat.

Amen!! I love the stuff! I found another good one or two when I was Orlando a few weeks ago: "Endorphin Rush" was one and the other was called "Spank My Sweet Ass and Call Me Sally"...very tasty!

If you're looking for something that will make you sweat, you won't find that in any mass-market stuff. You need to buy specialty sauces like Dave's Insanity or Blair's.

The bones are part of the fun. Eating meat off of a bone lets you connect to your food. What I mean is you feel like you are eating meat, rather than some square piece of protein.

Look for El Yucateco, either red or green. Sometimes its in ethnic food sections of grocery stores.
It is dangerously hot, but not a novelty sauce and the taste is amazing.Comes straight from Mexico.

the heat isnt in the pepper alone... its the vinegar which magnifies the burning and the sweating.

Ya, Franks sucks for heat. Add a couple drops of Insanity sauce or other really hot sauce to give it the heat desired.

Simple solution is to take a trip to the spice section of your local supermarket and pick up a jar of ground cayenne pepper. A jar last forever and costs a couple of bucks. When you're making up your wing sauce give it a generous shake of the ground cayenne and about tablespoon of vinegar. That perks up the heat a LOT.
