In a speech on Tuesday at John Brown University, a private Christian college in Siloam Springs, Ark., the son of the revered evangelist Billy Graham voiced "dismay" at the way the Tucson memorial service was conducted, arguing that it was not as explicitly religious -- apparently meaning "Christian" -- as those following the Oklahoma City bombing and the 9/11 attacks.

Graham was particularly upset that the Tucson memorial featured a Native American who called upon "father sky and mother earth," according to a Christian Post account of Graham's chapel service comments.

All I've got to say is what a joke... sure they feel the threat -- our culture is secularizing and/or becoming truly multicultural. Social conservatives are scared and see this as a sign of the end times... but it just amazes me how delusional they are. Rather than try and fix the real problems --- say how globalization has outsourced our jobs and standard of living to asia -- they focus on shit like this.
 
Why would I give a shit about the standard of living to Asia if mine is ok? Same thing with this, to him this is important while not needing a high standard of living.

sure, I do get the fact that to him and people like him, their religion is their worldview.. how they explain things and so on. just like anyone else really.

my point was, these people see stuff like high unemployment // overall just tough economic times and use that as more proof as a sign of the end. however, imo, a lot of this shit is better explained by looking at the poorer asians taking their share of the global economy from our plate and stuff like that.
 
Franklin Graham is being an ass IMHO. He has no right to bitch about a memorial service simply because it did not meet his personal standards which seem to demand a "Jesus only" theme. Nobody trashed Christianity at the event, but he happily trashes Native American beliefs.

I have no problem if he just suggests that he would have done differently, but his condemnation is way out of line.
 
He is sure there that Jesus is vital and anybody who believes in something like a Great Spirit or a Mother Earth is lost. He is just a titanic egotist because he is sure he knows better than others. He doesn't know shit, just like all of us.

Humans have worshiped Sun and earth before these "religions" came into existence so IMHO its better than god.

and btw, he has celebrated Muslim and Christian festivals in the white house with equal zeal... why would you want him to a name on god?

Everything that happened after the Tuscon shooting was a circus act to try and use it to push everyone's own adjenda. Never let a crisis go to waste, right?

All of the grandstanding and politicizing by both sides has completely washed over the reality that a fucked up guy did something fucked up and that the families involved are the ones that are suffering.

IMO, no one had a right to hold political rallie...er, I meant memorials...in the names of the victims. Let the families each grieve in their own ways and let them get on with their lives.
 
Some people become so full of themselves that they eventually have no room for anyone else within themselves, including the very deity they profess their souls to.
