Frank Zappa is...

many people think that hes quite wise about the ways of the world...

I'm not sure how wise a dead man is...but he was quite the perfectionist in his music. Every note had a place...and it had dammed well be where it belonged in a performance. Even though some/most of his music seemed...odd and unusual, the musical compositions were usually very precise.

I was fortunate enough to see Frank Zappa and the Mothers of Invention several times in their career. One of the best stage shows I've ever seen...especially considering the lack of "high-tech" that was around in the 60's and early 70's.

Also one of the few people of his ilk to abstain from drug use and expect the same of his band members, always thought that was interesting.

One of the surprising things about Zappa (IMO anyway) was that he pretty much didn't do any drugs, outside of nicotine. His music is just so bizarre and original, ya just sort of assume he did his share, but by all accounts, he didn't.

People used to say about Zeppelin "often imitated, never duplicated." Zappa was so original he's not even imitated.
