I'm highly impressed...of course I had great expectations going in, but I can confidently say it has met all of them. Currently listening on my Sennheiser headphones for the first time and I'm noticing a lot more layering than I did with my crappy speakers. Any other reactions? I know there are some TMV fans out there

This album seems even more experimental than the other, in ways. Not sure if I like it more than the previous album, but it seems pretty good so far :)

some self-control and structure would have been nice. some good ideas on there, though.

So far I like De-Loused better but I haven't listened to Frances the Mute that much really. I think you need to give these albums a few spins, there's too much going on for only one or two listens.

It's really good. I had been listening to the rematered CD for ~6 months now. You can buy the CD at Circuit City for $5.99. I love Flea's trumpet playing in track 5

This isn't just lieka cd that can be popped in and listened to, you have to take time out of your day for it.

A rock opera.

While I have only ever heard good things about TMV, and even heard a song or two, I've yet to really get into their music.

:D:beer:

exactly, that's why I like this band so much. And that's also why I love Mr. Bungle, who I think it a big influence on Mars Volta.

That could be part of the problem. There music tracks flow together so much, you have to listen to the whole album and not just songs, that especially goes for De-Loused.

Ahhh okay. I've heard comparisons to Radiohead, and Radiohead is probably my favorite band, so they must be good.
