example: say, any late/great P4/AMD cpu/chipset, 1gb ram, 9800 ati or 5900 geforce (256mb if it matters) any first person shooter game, lets take quake 3 for example.

-run the game at 1024x768 no aa/af, 16bit color

-run the game at 1024x768, aa/af 2x, 16bit, then 32bit

can the individual truly sense the difference in performance and graphics quality? whats the best way to tell or best way to measure/look at it? i played need for speed underground at various settings and really couldnt "sense" the diff....what should i be looking for?

thanks!

There are certain games in which the diffrence will be more noticeable. I feel that in FPS like Quake where you are looking over a distance and panning from side to side the increase in detail provided by aa/af is great. Also in combat flight sims which require you to see things that are far. I have played the need for speed games, and you are correct, it is very difficult to notice the diffrence. You will notice that your car looks great with the overhead view, but the scenery is so blurred by the speed that the every setting looks about the same.

Sweet setup you have, must be nice :)
