Framerate issues with 9800GTX

Hi everyone,
I just recently bought a new Nvidia GeForce 9800 gtx. It worked fine for one night but now I am experiencing framerate issues and game freezing. I'm running a HP Pavilion with an AMD 64 x2 Dual Core 4200+ processor with 250GB hard drive and 1024MB of memory on Windows XP service pack 2 and Direct X 9.0. I've updated all my Nvidia drivers. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Let me know if there is any other system info that you need. Thank you very much.

Edit: Oh yeah, Playing at 1280x768 reoslution on a 27" LCD monitor via VGA connection.

Do you happen to know what size your power supply is in the HP? What video card was in there previously?

I had to upgrade my power supply as well to accomodate the new card. I'm now using a BFG Tech 650 power supply. The DC output is 26A at +3.3V and 28A at +5V. The comp came with an integrated (I think) Geforce 6150 LE graphics card. I think my issue was hard drive related though. After I posted this, I started receiving a fatal exception (blue screen) error message on windows start up, but I could not read the message because the computer immediately tried to reboot after the blue screen flash. This happened a few time on start up attempts, but then I started receiving a NTLDR missing error message on start up. I did a system recovery and I think everything is working now. I'm in the process of reinstalling my programs and checking the system now.

Reset your bios, check that memory timings are correctly detected. And then if all else fails, reformat.

did you completely uninstall the drivers for the onboard video and then set it in bios the primary video is PEG?

I deleted the old drivers yes, but I have no clue how to do the bios settings. After doing the system recovery, the game I'm tryin to run (Age of Conan) worked fine again for a little while, but then I got this error message:

are you doing some coding or anything that directory hive indicates you are.

no, I mainly use this comp for gaming and web browsing. That code is part of the game itself it think.

Download CPUID google cpuz and type off the ram timings for us.

*sigh* it keeps getting better and better. Did a system recovery....again....and there is now 5 sectors on my hard drive that are unreadable and I'm getting a System Configuration error message when windows tries to start up. Didn't give much detail, it just prompted me to contact hp customer care (comp is out of warranty) and it a gave a code purple. Any clues?

2. do research on what "Code Purple" is.
3. disable reboot upon BSOD.

What in the world was ?Error Code Purple,? I wondered. A quick search on the net revealed that this was a booby trap placed in HP and Compaq computers in which a ?tattoo? or numerical signature of the motherboard and hardware configuration is created at the factory and encoded into the restore disks on a particular computer. When you re-install your system, it checks to make sure the system has not been modified. If you have modified your system, the ?tattoo? generated by the checking program will be different than the original, and the system will not boot.

In order to fix this, you have to send in your computer to Compaq, or take it so some place like CompUSA or BestBuy where they will modify the ?tattoo? so you can run your software on your computer again ? until the next time you upgrade memory or swap a card or DVD player.
