I've got a old dell with a dead hard drive that I'm currently running GeexBox Open Media Center off a burned CD-Rom. I would like to disassemble the laptop and put it in picture frame type enclose to mount on the wall.
First off if possible I would like prefer not to spend money any new components. So I'm looking for an OS that can be run from a CD-R if possible since the motherboard does not support USB booting.
Required features:
Media Player - from a server sharing music, picture, video so the operating system must support a USB network adapter.
Wireless control - preferably with an iphone but a wireless mouse or remote may also be possibility
Additional Features but required:
When not in use it functions as a digital picture frame.
Sleep timer.
Anyone with experience in building a similar setup I would be interested in any recommendations.
