Frame Rates using Widescreen Monitor

Hi
I have a 17" monitor (1280x1024) and should like to change to a 24" Dell 2408WFP (1920x1200).
At the present I get frame rates per second of about 15 to 20 when running Microsoft Flight Simulator FSX with high detail photo scenery, which is just about tolerable.
The graphics card is an ATI Radeon 1650 Pro (512Mb) which the spec' says is 2560x1600 (digital/external).
I have two concerns:
1. would the frame rates fall significantly if I changed to the 24" monitor, and
2. would there be an increase in the power demand from the power supply unit as result of this change to a 24" monitor?
Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Ray

Yes. You need a much powerful card to drive higher resolution.

A 1650pro can't even drive 1280x1024 without turning down settings to low.

1. Most likely, because you are immediately asking your graphics card to handle the data for +75% extra pixels (from 1.3Mpixels to 2.3Mpixels). However FSX is also notoriously taxing on CPU and memory subsystems (including vRAM and PCIe bandwidth), so it is worth posting your full system info to get better informed replies.

2. Without changing any other hardware, the move to 1920x1200 shouldn't have any affect on the PC's PSU - the monitor has its own power supply and regulation, and the PC components are probably already at full load when run FSX at 1280x1024.
