Frame Limiter

I was just wondering why games like Halo and GTA-SA have a frame limiter of 30 fps. I always disable it and my game runs much faster. Why is always default then? What is so good about it?

in Doom3, they set up the jumping to match with 60 fps somehow because in older games you could jump farther at certain frame rates.

Get the original GTA and hit f7 which i believe turns off the frame rate limiter. You will see why its neccesary on a modern system 😛

I believe the frame limiter (like V-sync?) is there to prevent/reduce tearing. This occurs when the game starts sending more frames than the video card can produce in a pass. Or some nerdy sh*t like that.......

Unless you simply use V-sync, which will cap the framerate at your refresh rate, which will definitely be higher than 30Hz.🙂

To get better traction at the PCI Express Bridge when crossing because it tends to freeze when you run too fast.

V-Sync caps framerate at 60FPS to prevent tearing.

I thought vsync cut framerate to the refresh rate..not necessarily 60fps.. 😕
