I've heard that these are great if you like waiting an hour for your oil to drain. Just a heads up.

This thing doesnot solve the messiness problem completely. because you still have to change oil filter which is messy.

These don't really do much for oil drainage. Your best bet for oil messiness is to get an oil pump, which will get the job done in no time, but they're $$$$. Here are some similar opinions..

I have this. I like the fact it's so much easier then getting the drain plug off. The negative as mentioned above is that it takes forever for the oil to drain if you engine is cool (or even hot for that matter, but it takes even longer when the engine hasn't run all day or night). I usually change it on a weekend morning where I don't have anywhere to go till later in the day so it works for me. I could see why some people would hate it though.

I have this on my Camry and love the fact that I won't have to deal with the messiness of draining the oil. Changing the filter is not that messy on my car....

I bought one for my 2000 Mazda MPV and something near the oil drain plug blocks the place where the hose goes. It does not work for me...

I have a Fumoto valve for my Saturn. What I usually do is rotate my front tires while I wait...

I think these are great.

It might take a little longer to drain but that's why there are sports and Tivo ;-)

Not having to use a socket or other wrench to remove the drain plug is nice but avoiding any hot oil on your hand/arm or work area is worth it.

You still might get some oil from the filter on the ground but that depends on the car. One of mine came with a funnel from the factory under the oil filter and another has a single path the oil follows. And I never got oil on ME removing a filter anyway.

One defect is that the hoses get loose on the metal part with use and heat. Its a good idea to throw a small hose clamp on there.

I used one of these on my old Miata. Worked great, and doesn't take forever to drain. Very convenient!

Local garage 4 blocks from my house does 10 minute oil changes for $15.95. I'll do that every 3000 miles (which breaks down for me to about 3 times a year) thank you :)

got one. I still have 2-3 months to go before next oil change (just did mine 2 weeks ago) so can't test it yet. But the tube is not that narrow.
