Goddamn. I just paid like $140 for the xl r2. It's worth it even at that price. As indicated in Anandtech's review, it's the rare case that is good at sound dampening AND decent at thermal performance.

I wish this was the Mini. These cases are freaking tanks and I'm trying to do a mATX build for the FIL.

expensive cases would never pay that high

you think 80 for the fractal is expensive?

I have used 20 dollar rosewill bargains (deal of the day) and they are not worth the 20 when compared to these fractals. the fans in the fractals are quiet the fans in the rosewills are loud. the wire management is hard in the rose wills easy in the fractals.

that said when i build a miner rig i use the cheap rosewill. I cut it up and mod it for airflow. they run in my garage so noise is no factor, so it is not like a cheap case has no place. same with a cheap kitchen knife vs a hi end knife. the cheap one comes in handy if you want to abuse it.

Suit yourself! I think if you had a chance to use this case, though, you'd say otherwise. They're built like tanks, covered in sound deadening material, come stock with 2 very quiet fans, have a ton of room inside and holes for excellent cable management, and overall very easy to "put together." Plus, I like the minimalist look. They can also be configured for optimum silence or cooling/airflow...or anything in between.

One of the best computer purchases I've ever made.

And an onboard 3 fan controller is included too. Love my R4.

Great deal. I haven't researched cases yet but this seems to be very good. Thinking I should jump on it and save myself some time reading a million posts. Can someone give me an automobile comparison? Is this thing a $30k Honda or a $60k Benz? Thanks.

if the original p180 (the root of all bottom mount quiet cases) is a built like a tank 1980s diesel benz, then this is more like a modern C class. it has the latest headline features (usb 3, bigger fans, removal of the pointless divider between chambers, sideways hard drives, lots of access behind the motherboard) but it's just not quite built as well (the way the side panels are mounted, the level of damping and deadness to the case, the hard drive mounting grommets).

that said, in part because antec hasn't come out with a real p18x update, i'm now getting my second R4.

owning the antec solo II and the fractal r4 the fractal is far better. I just finished the build. I had a bad seasonic and I am using a temp psu but the sniper works nicely in this case. i love the 3 speed fan control. i am running 3 fans direct from the psu nice.

The choice is either the Fractal or Nanoxia but prefer the Nanoxia :)

I guess it depends on how many 5.25" bays you want/need. The Nanoxia has 3. I prefer the fewer the better. The R4 has two.

Is the regular version noticeably quieter than the window version?

I have the closed sound proofed models they are really quiet.

1 of these
