I've not studied fracking much at all, but the cheerleaders appear to me to have been saying that fracking isn't proven to do anything. Now that this thread refers to chances it does they are saying "yeah, but, it's not meaningful".

Conservatives wouldn't want to stop fracking if it awakened an ancient dragon who began laying waste to cities so long as it potentially dropped the price of gas by 10 cents a gallon.
I don't see any liberals opposed to their personal energy usage.
Part of his defense is that "To balance out other carbon emissions, the Gores invest money in projects to reduce energy consumption around the globe".
So in other words, he spends money to get people who aren't him to reduce their consumption so that he can feel good about his own consumption. Al Gore truly is a special level of asshole.
