i bought a 5900 and flashed it to a 5950. when i play raven-shield i get a constant rate of 59fps no matter what i do. is this the limitation of my monitor?? i have everything set at 85htz refresh at 1024x768. it's a phillips crt monitor.

lots of my friends are getting higher frame rates so i was wondering what is going on.

well ur refresh rate is 85Hz so if u had vsync on then ur FPS wold be 85

some games have sort of limiters in them if u get my drift....like counterstrike will only do 60fps now matter how fast your card is unless u tell the game to do more than that....usually done ingame by bringin up the command line.

might jus wanna try google-ing it

ahhh if u got win xp then unless u have a refresh overide....then sometimes xp will default to 60hz when a game is launched....and then if u have vsync enabled this would limit you to around 60fps

Turn off vsync in your drivers and use a refresh forcing utility such as ReForce to force the correct refresh rate for any given resolution.

ya your desktop refresh rate may well be 85hz but obviously you havn't done anything to change windowxp from defaulting to 60hz in game. i belive forceware drivers have a built in refresh rate fix now as well.
