Systems is built on an Asus CUSL2-C, P3/866@1007/ 512 MB RAM, Cheetah X-15, Soundblaster Live! X-Gamer 5.1.
Just got a set of Cambridge Digital FPS2000 speakers, from pcAnywhere, and set them up. When I select Digital Sound Only from the Mixer, I lose the rear speakers and volume dips by about 30%. If I deselect that I get good volume and all four speakers.
I tried calling those !@##$#! sons of mitches at Creative, and held for over an hour; finally got a moron who kept putting me on hold, and demonstrated his lack of knowledge of the product by asking if all the lights on the speakers were on (these speakers have no lights). Then he put me on hold and never came back.
I am wondering if there is something wrong with the Digital DIN cable, or the output adapter cable which is miniplug to DIN. Or is that reaching, and might there be something more wrong, perhaps with the sound card or the digital circuitry of the speakers.
I realize that asking this without being able to diagnose is reaching, but I admit my ignorance in this and maybe there are issues that some multimedia enlightened souls may know about.
Speakers sound okay, but I am wondering what I am missing by not beng able to use the digital sound.
Thanks.
