I always like to read the Then/Now slideshows that Fox News puts up for past tv shows and such. Today they have one for wrestling fans (which I am no longer) that looks at wrestlers who have died the the last decade. Kind of interesting and surprising as I didn't realize so many that I recognize from the 80s and 90s have passed away. Bam Bam Bigelow's is pretty sad.

Wow. Sad seeing "Died at age..." or "Died from overdose" on all of them. I didn't know Owen Hart died during a PPV event.

Well, a lot are 'heart failure,' usually in their 40's, and known heavy steroid abusers.

owen Hart's death was pretty bad stuff, they continued with the PPV after it happened.

Yep, the show must go on, so they hauled him outta the ring and continued rasslin'. That was during his 'Blue Blazer' gimmick days, and honestly they should do away with any aerial ring entrances, regardless of how grand they may be.

Scott Bigelow began his wrestling career in 1987 with the WWE. Bigelow's biggest match was taking on NFL Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor in Wrestlemania XI, a match he lost.

In July 2000, Bigelow received second-degree burns on 40 percent of his body rescuing three children from a burning house.

He was found dead on Jan. 19, 2007, inside his Florida home at the age of 45. Cocaine was found in his system at the time of his death.

Damn. I remember about 1/3 of those guys from when I was a kid. Except for that captain lou guy ( I only remember him only as mario ), everyone died at less than 50. Sure, it's not real but you're still beating the shit out of your body -> needing painkillers/steroids -> addiction -> fucked up body.

I thought they did. In fact, I thought the state that it happened in ended up passing a law against aerial entrances.

i didn't realize that so many had died. it seems that the one muscle that steriods do not help is the heart.

When I was a kid I used to like (pre-WWF/E) wrestling. I'm surprised to know most of those names.

In the 70's I had a next door neighbor that was a wrestler. His job was to lose to the up-and-comers when they came to town, usually the first match of the weekly studio broadcast, but he has done a couple arenas.

I could never get him to admit it was fake, no matter how drunk he got.

The stories he told about wrestlers and partying would curl your toes. Those guys (and gals) really tore it up, and themselves.

I've always seen pro-wrestling as a stunt show. Just like Jackie Chan's fighting is fake, it still takes skill and can be good entertainment.

god Elizabeth was hot. What a shame. Too bad about many of these guys, they provided lotsa entertainment over the years.

You could put together a promotion that would rival TNA and WWE just with dead wrestlers. Zombie Andre vs Zombie Hercules! I'd pay to see that
