Here is a blog they wrote with a conference video: http://blog.xmarks.com/?p=747

People's reviews on the Foxmarks page at addons.mozilla.org: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-.../display/2410?show=100

I hope it's still worth using and they don't over bloat it.

I heard that now they will scan your bookmarks to create advertising data. Which who knows, they could have been doing that from day 1. I mean the space for bookmarks costs.

If these extra features can be turned off and I can still use it as a simple bookmarks sync. Then cool......Otherwise, I don't care for the extras and it will just end up being annoying. Hope it's not time to start looking for an alternative bookmark sync.

You can upgrade to Xmarks here: https://www.xmarks.com/download and try it out, you don't need to uninstall Foxmarks as it will replace it. Try it out and give your thoughts, play with Xmarks settings, check out the Discovery settings or turn them off if you want classic Foxmarks function of just keeping your bookmarks in sync and none of the suggested site stuff.

So now when accessing your bookmarks at other places it's https://my.xmarks.com and not my.foxmarks.com

Also in settings, under advanced you can use your own server if that's what your prefer.

It should be replacing Foxmarks on http://addons.mozilla.org later this Month.

Like I said it is unknown if they weren't doing that from day 1, I just heard about it from a review someone posted on the mozilla add-on page of Foxmarks. We really don't know. I mean why would they just offer free space for bookmarks? Storage does cost and advertising helps with the cost. These new Xmarks features can be turned off if you just want plain bookmark syncing as well as password syncing if you want.

So all may not be lost.....

Unless you know of some other alternatives?
