I've got several questions.
My setup is e4300, g-skill 2GB ddr2 800Mhz, foxconn P96557AA-8EKRS2H, PSU 500 Watt.
The questions are:
(1) My PSU only has 4pin 12V power, do I need to buy an extender cable (4pin to 8pin) if I plan to oveclock e4300@3Ghz?
(2)I have Vista installed, and it seems FOX CON utility that comes with MB software disc that allows to OC doesn't work in Vista. I didn't find any settnigs in BIOS to overclock MB FSB. The BIOS shows that CPU running at 1800Mhz, FSB@200Mhz, RAM@800Mhz, but they are disabled. There's only CPU SPEED setting that you can change (Values from 200 to 600), but I tried to set it to 333Mhz and system won't boot up. So I really don't know how to OC it. Any suggestions?
(3)Also, I'm running it on a stock cooler and fan? Do I need to buy smth better?
Thank you.

Can't help you with the specifics of your board. You should not have to worry about supply power cables. It is best to use BIOS to OC, and not some Windows utility. Unless you go past 3.4 GHz or so you should be fine with the stock cooler. Consider that Intel uses the same cooler on all CPU's up to the E6700.

Standard practice is to increase FSB in 25 increments, until you hang. Then increase CPU voltage to get higher - Ideally no more than 1.4 V, and 1.5 max. Other things to try is higher mem voltage - no problem with 2 V and 2.2 very max. You may be able to stay with stock 1.8 with your DDR2-800 ram. There are a few other setting you have to change in BIOS. Check the link below for my settings. They may not be called exactly the same in your BIOS, but should be there. At some point you may have to say you have 667 ram to keep the ram speed reasonable.

It is helpful to download the CPU-Z utility to track things.

So, is the CPU SPEED in the BIOS is actually the FSB speed of the motherboard? IS this what I need to change, let's say from 200Mhz to 333Mhz, to OC this thing?

Suggest you download CPU-Z so you can see what you are dealing with. The CPU speed is the product of the FSB freq and the multiplier. On the E4300 the stock FSB is 200, and the multiplier is 9, to give you a CPU freq of 1,800 or 1.8 GHz. You can't increase the multiplier, so yes the only way to increase the CPU freq is to increase the FSB.

A new BIOS release is available for the P9657AA, but there is no description of what the improvements are

http://forum.foxchannel.com recently came online to provide tech support in English. A similar question to yours was asked a few days ago but no solution yet.

If the Anandtech forum allows changing the message thread subject, you might want to remove the extraneous 5 in P96557AA so that people can more easily find your thread when searching.
