Foxconn BlackOps X48

*Sigh*! After changing my mind from trying to get the best Intel+SLI mobo to the best AMD Phenom+ATI mobo to trying to get the best Intel+SLI mobo again, I chance upon this fine beast. Now, had I not seen this, I would've almost definately gone with the Asus P5E3 Premium, as based on all the reviews, this was an almost flawless motherboard providing me with exactly what I wanted. But I did read about this, the FoxConn BlackOps X48. 3 PCI-E slots, a nitrogen cooling provision, supporting Quad Intel cpus, apparently get really good OC out of it and you just google the rest.

So what do we reckon?

Stick with P5E3 Premium or go with this Foxconn beast? I know it might not be out yet, but I've got my eyes on hardware that is the best of the best so thats only natural (i know new isn't always better, but recently this is the case with many things).

-Yes I am happy about paying for DDR3 memory.
-Yes I do want to invest in a beasty cooling system.
-Yes I do like the word "beast"

BTW, anyone know when this Foxconn X48 is released?

Buy the P5E3, you realize that running Liquid Nitrogen or Dry Ice is only temporary right?

Best case scenario you have to keep filling it every 15 minutes, worst case, every 2 minutes.

From reading your thread about killing your current rig, I can only say - be reeeally careful if you do decide to get the BlackOps . That board seems almost purposely designed to obliterate components. (If you've seen the CES 2008 screenshots of the BlackOps BIOS voltage menu, you'll understand what I'm referring to...)

Well it is made for people that overclock professionally as Shamino (the creator of VR-Zone) now works for Foxconn.

Foxconn is trying to build a rep as an overclocking player and not just a company the produces everyone elses motherboard.

Yep. Apparently, someone over at XS already got their hands on the BlackOps. There's a thread about it somewhere in the XS forums, but I don't remember off the top of my head the numbers they were able to get. Wonder if Shamino/LardArse (or whoever designed the BIOS) is a UT fan ...the only thing that BIOS is missing is "M-M-M-onster Killlll!!!".

i just took apart an old MICRONpc computer 1ghz t-bird athlon. I was taking the fans out of the psu & mobo to add into my current case when i noticed a lot of the parts, including fan & motherboard were all foxconn!

For a long time...Foxconn made ALL the board that were branded as Intel.

And they still make quite a number of all the I/O ports and such on many motherboards from several other brands.

Just look at the top of the USB and Ethernet ports on your motherboard and see....

Foxconn currently makes boards for: ASUS, Gigabyte, MSI, Intel, NVIDIA (EVGA, XFX, BFG).

All these companies do is design the reference and features foxconn does the actual printing.

Shamino could probably give you an idea of which boards they create under other names, but I know for a fact they took the Badaxe 1,2 and Bonetrail from start to finish including bios.
