I remember before the invasion of Iraq every single one of them swore on their life Iraq had WMD. Then they stfu and made excuses as to why the war in Iraq was the right thing to do.

Yet I still watch Foxnews more than all the other news networks.. It is entertainment.

That's one of the most crazy and yet also most crazy briliant ideas I've heard in a while. Sounds like a great idea for a novel.

I'm not advocating going into Iran ... I'm just thinking about the interesting political implications of using a transpartently mercenary army. (Unlike the proxy type wars that have been fought for ages.) A forigen army that is openly paid for thier services and it's clear who's writing the checks.

The whole thread is a non-starter---who in their right mind thinks Fox news is fair and unbiased?

The only scary part is the GWB administration uses Fox news to preview next weeks talking points.

And one thing is already pretty well known---Dick Cheney has a hard on about invading Iran---and the recent Israeli Lebanon confrontation was supposed to be a test bed for a US led Iranian invasion according to Seymour Hersh and others.

And like the current Iraq war---it went over like a lead balloon---but a neo-con seems to never let reality get in the way of a poorly planned fine fantasy---so its time to worry that GWB will be stupid enogh to try all out war with Iran. Which will never get any UN stamp of if you feel froggie like in the the Iraq war.

So I ask you all---would you buy another war from GWB&co.?

Well pretty much that's what America has decided. We are not only tolerant of muslims, and the islam faith, but apologetic to a fault as not to repeat what happened to the Japenese Americans after Pearl Harbor. Americans in general have very short memories.

There have been recent videos coming out of Al Qaeda camps stating that there is something coming soon that will make 9/11 pale in comparison. Seeing how EVERY threat by them has been fulfilled, it will not suprise me one bit to wake tomorrow with California, or New York, or DC, or (insert target here) under Marshall law because a nuke went off. I said it in another thread, I'll say it here. There was a show here in Phoenix a few weeks ago that had the news crew with not only an elephant, but a 5 piece mariachi band playing, walking right across the US/Mexico border un-interupted. How much easier would it be to get a nuke in?

So thats why I call shens on the report. We are too apologetic. We will wait till something else happens first.

As for the Iran/Iraq comparisons. Iraq didn?t have a functional nuclear program after the first Gulf War. So then with nuclear technology well under development, this means Iran more closely resembles their allied trading partner North Korea in the 1990?s.

While Iran resembles North Korea, it?s only that they will certainly get a nuclear weapon.

The differences are clear. From waging war directly through proxy in Lebanon and Iraq, chanting ?death to America?, and believing their 12th Imam can only return through world ?chaos?. Iran is the religious zealot from which the suicide bomber is supplied and soon that will be to fight a nuclear war.

You know this, we?ve gone over it before, some of us still insist that allowing radical Islam?s war against the western world to turn nuclear is acceptable. From that sentiment of support, our opponent can know gleefully that they will obtain their goals.

You guys can work your best to disarm America, but America isn?t the one developing the nuclear weapons to strike you with. You?re looking the wrong direction and in the next ten years millions of lives will pay for it.

OK gonna counter a couple things here, off topic.

1. There are two, often different AND opposing views, of almost every story. If CNN reports one thing, and Fox reports another on the same subject, why do you automatically discount Fox's report? Cant both sides be true? Unless of course you yourself arent open minded enough to actually LOOK at both sides...(and also...at least in the last 6 months to year, Fox's stories arent really that different than anyone elses. Im not including the opinion shows like Hannity/Coombs, etc...those are OPINION pieces, not reflections of Fox news)

And 3. OK so Cheney has a hard-on for invading Iran (oh yeah...links?) So what? He couldnt authorize it without Congress approval, and neither could Bush. The currect Congress, even as lame ducks, wouldnt authorize it. Nice fantasy bashing though!

A nuclear attack is a much greater threat than another 9/11. 3000 people dead is manageable. Millions and millions of dead is less so.

Lets recap our homeland security situation:
- Open borders, terrorists can slip in with barely any problem
- No security at train stations
- Airports still fail vast majority of undercover security tests
- Only 5% of cargo containers stand

We are basically praying for an attack. This is where the money we wasted on Iraq should have gone. A good offensive will only improve our defense if we actually have one.

The president does NOT need congressional approval to go to war. Congress has to agree to fund it after (i think) 90 days. The senate has to declare war but how many military actions have we taken since the last time that happened (WWII was the last time)?
