Yes those are advantages of marriage. That is not what she said though, she said that people had been telling gays that they couldn't spend the rest of their lives together before this. Which is not true at all. Any race, color, or gender was free to live with whoever before this. It is not about spending the rest of their life with someone, but benefits. Not that I am saying it's wrong to want them, but she's not being honest about it all.

Marriage confers a host of legal protections that simple co-habitation doesn't. Even if you have the appropriate durable power of attorney documents it often isn't as cut and dried as you can run into administrative obstacles. For example I'd rather not be on the phone with my lawyer if my partner is laying in a hospital dying and they elected to ignore my power of attorney docs (this has happened to people). I am also fortunate to have the financial and educational wherewithal to obtain these documents in the first place, many people are not so lucky or even know they could need them.

Look, no one pays the women on Fox for their brilliant opinions and commentary. Take a look at their pictures.

Sure, they could live together forever, in love, before gay marriage was allowed, but marriage confers benefits on people such as being able to visit someone in a hospital room because of the marriage contract existing. And other benefits, as you know.

Regardless of how some eye candy on Fox stated it.

I understand the desire for it. I was simply stating that she was trying to claim something that wasn't true to make it look better. The original poster was all about what she said, when part of it was wrong. That was all I was saying. Yeah I know they don't hire them for brains, but she was smart enough to say it how she did to make it look like laws kept people from spending the rest of the lives together. When that was not the case.

In any event, very unlike Fox.

I have heard these arguments before, but let me say that I had no trouble visiting my S.O. in a hospital, including O.R. recovery. Granted, health insurance could be problematic, but some employers/carriers will allow your partner. Other than a few hoops for trusts, wills, etc, which, let's face it we all have to do, can you name any other benefits?
BTW, my S.O. and I are about to celebrate 25 years of an unholy, non government sanctioned union. We also receive *TWO* social security checks, :D and can walk away from this union without spending thousands on lawyers. Be careful what you wish for my gay friends, you just might get it!
Then again, perhaps this millstone is worth the burden to promote, further an even greater goal, or agenda? HMMMMM.

Yeah, men only THINK they can walk away without spending thousands of dollars on lawyers. lol

Congrats on your anniversary. I'll just say that there are plenty of things I have no desire to do that I do not want government prohibiting me from doing, especially if others are being granted those same rights based on a technicality.
