It's clear Fox doesn't have class, but OP gave a poor example and argument.

MSNBC:

PLACERVILLE, Calif. - Joyous, miraculous news that a little girl kidnapped nearly two decades ago was found alive gave way Thursday to the horrifying details of how police say she has lived all those years: kept by a convicted rapist in his backyard as a sex slave and forced to bear two of his children.

Garrido told NBC station KCRA of Sacramento in a telephone interview Thursday from jail that he has turned his life around.

"Wait until you hear the story of what took place at this house," he said. "You are going to be completely impressed. It's a disgusting thing that took place with me at the beginning. But I turned my life completely around and to be able to understand that, you have to start there."

He added: If you take this a step at a time you're going to fall over backwards and in the end, you're going to find the most powerful heart-warming story."

Man that guy is deranged...

sex slave? a freakin given.

not sure what u are on about fox.

fleabag, is your beef:

1) with fox news for saying that Jacee Lee Dugard was kept as a sex slave by the convicted rapist or

2) that you really don't think the convicted rapist on lifetime parole didn't fuck the mother of his two kids, that is his kidnap victim more than twice?

1.. duh. though while I technically shouldn't be saying whom is guilty and who isn't because the man hasn't been tried, from what I've seen, there is overwhelming evidence the guy is guilty. This is nothing like the other sensationalist stories that have been pushed around by the media, calling the man guilty even though there is only circumstantial evidence and that the real reason they've got the guy is because they've got no other leads....but that's aside the point. My only beef with this story is that they called her a Sex slave just because of the circumstances and the limited "intimate" facts they have.

here are some of the facts we know.

1) he kidnaped her at 11

2)he kept her prisoner in his shed in the backyard.

3) teh kids are now 11 and 15. she is 29 now. so she was 17 when she got pregnant with the youngest and 13 when she got pregnant with the oldest.

4) NIETHER her or the kids were alowed to leave.

5) Garrido was on federal parole for a 1971 conviction for rape and kidnapping, for which he had served time in the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth, Kansas. (ohh adds more to it!)

defination of a sex slave is a person who is kept in bondage (ok she was) and forced to have sex (again we know she was). so yeah she was his sex slave.

OK so you want to bitch about fox calling her a "sex slave" (wich she was)? what about MSNBC? what about CNN?

Fleabag is not intelligent.

Stating that calling her a sex slave is wrong because it would sully her reputation or "honor", is such an idiotic statement that pretty much everything else you've said is moot.

Yes, I just defended Fox News...fuck, see what you made me do, Fleabag?

3) Since she was a minor that would be at least two counts of statutory rape.

So what, now your defending the honor of a convicted rapist? Nice. Is he your brother in law or something?

fleabag, sex slave does NOT equate to being a whore or a slut. No one is trying to sully her reputation. She's the victim here. You're confusing porn nomenclature to actual (and proper) use of the term "sex slave".

There are enough evidence to put 2 and 2 together. See waggy's post.

Fox news seriously has no class.. Nowhere has it been proven or told that this girl was a sex slave, but leave it to fox to add a shocker to their article title in order to draw in more readers....

An 11-year-old California girl kidnapped in 1991 while waiting for a school bus has been found alive, and a convicted sex offender is accused of raping her and fathering two children with her while he and his wife held her captive in their backyard.

Despite the shocking revelations, the discovery of Jaycee Lee Dugard brought sudden relief to her family 18 years after their young girl disappeared.

Dugard was being kept with the two children in a series of tents and sheds hidden behind the Antioch, Calif., home of Phillip and Nancy Garrido, the El Dorado County Sheriff?s Office said Thursday at a news conference.

Dugard and her two daughters are "in good health, but living in a backyard for the past 18 years does take its toll," Undersheriff Fred Kollar said.

Unless you have contradictory information, the story printed seems to contradict you.

The problem I have is that they called her a SEX SLAVE. NOWHERE does it say she's a SEX SLAVE.

do the math......she was kidnapped at 11.....one of the children (HER CHILD) the man was busted with is 15...now how many volunteers do you know that have been kidnapped at 11 and chose to have sex and give birth to the offspring of their abductor at 14?

yeah...I would classify her as a sex slave whether is was only for the first month, 6 months or year of her captivity or the entire time.

use your brain.

When it comes to journalists, I think Fox News does a pretty good job of reporting the facts rather than editorializing everything. All media outlets sensationalize headlines. It's how they get readers/viewers. This one, I think, is pretty accurate.

If you want an example of "no class" from Fox News, I would use their "Maxim Monday" gratuitous bikini photos as an example. I'm not sure how scantily clad women is news, but I'm sure it fits well with their audience demographics.
