Fox News continues to carry the water of Trump and all his minions. Part of that job is to spread fear using all manner of complete and utter bullshit. Remembering their audience and some in this forum who are stupid enough to believe anything parroted by Fox, I think that's why their audience in poll after poll are the most misinformed.

Feel free to lookup the gruesome details about smallpox but I will post this small tidbit...
The global eradication of smallpox was certified, based on intense verification activities in countries, by a commission of eminent scientists on 9 December 1979 and subsequently endorsed by the World Health Assembly on 8 May 1980.[10][86] The first two sentences of the resolution read:

Having considered the development and results of the global program on smallpox eradication initiated by WHO in 1958 and intensified since 1967 … Declares solemnly that the world and its peoples have won freedom from smallpox, which was a most devastating disease sweeping in epidemic form through many countries since earliest time, leaving death, blindness and disfigurement in its wake and which only a decade ago was rampant in Africa, Asia and South America.

— World Health Organization, Resolution WHA33.3

You have a link to Fox making that claim? I want to believe it's not true.

It's sad to live in a world where people and organizations feel a need to blatantly lie to make a point that could stand on it's own merrits.

I think most people of any stripe would agree that the US cannot be hosting caravans of refugees from other countries on the regular and that we need to do something to stabilize the situation where the caravans are coming from as a more effective and humane method of permantly solving this "immigration crisis" (among a host of other humane, tractionable, reasonable methods).

Or we can not do that and just pitch the unwashed masses it's a bunch of rapists, drug dealers, plague bearers, terrorists and every other kind of "bad hombre, type of shtick.

The more ridiculous the the accusation, the more desperate the source is and it reeks of desperation really REALLY bad over at GOP Central. I'm out here in the middle of nowhere and I can smell their sweat laden desperation from here.

I guess there's no limit as to what kind of scam the Repubs are capable of and with Trump as their role model, well these next few days should be pretty interesting.

They also mentioned leprosy. I think Fox was trying to pull one of those strings in a Christian's amygdala, to have them believe asylum caravans bring biblical plagues and only Trumpus can save them.

- Thanks, sounds like the claim came from one of those functionally retarded guests that news networks bring on the air so they get to push an angle with some plausible deniability.

Same old shit, different day.

Read the story, it has little to do with the thread title. Fox news didn't make any of the claims stated.

Really splitting the hairs on Fox News didn't say it but they seem to keep having guests on who do. About a step away from Cell phones: Useful communications tools or agents of alien socialist mind control? You decide!"

https://www.thedailybeast.com/fox-n...llpox-a-disease-eradicated-in-1980?ref=scroll

“What about diseases?” Fox & Friends co-host Brian Kilmeade asked Monday. Later, Fox News contributor Sidney Powell suggested that the current outbreak of acute flaccid myelitis (AFM) affecting children was because of migrants—prompting host Lou Dobbs to correct her on air.

And former immigration agent David Ward, also appearing on Fox, cited a disease that doesn't actually exist anymore.

“We have these individuals coming in from all over the world that have some of the most extreme medical care in the world,” Ward said. “And they're coming in with diseases such as smallpox and leprosy and TB [tuberculosis] that are going to infect our people in the United States.”

Any network that keeps having an endless parade of nutcases on should be viewed critically.

Do you guys really think poor people from the third world would have the same hygiene and health standards we have? It isn't outrageous to think that there would likely be a higher rate of communicable diseases in this group of people.

One person they identify with makes a lie, the rest just lap it up and spread it via group-think and group identity.
The Ego says that whatever they say must be true. After all, they're the good guys. They got "facts".

It's all about the violent disease ridden dope smuggling Honduran rapists & the nasty little brown bastids they're bringing with them. Gotta start raving about them now before they get within 1000 miles of the border, obviously, because reasons. Be afraid! Be very, very afraid! It's a national emergency! Call out the troops!

Unfortunately in this age of anti-vaxxer presidents there's a chance they might be better vaccinated

Mexico and others have a higher vaccination rate. How many do you think may have smallpox? Smallpox was mentioned and not retracted

There has not been a case of smallpox reported in the wild for 40 years. The WHO declared it eradicated in 1980.

But be afraid anyway.

Trump said there's very big, strong men in the caravan...how can they be both strong and disease ridden at the same time?
