I live near Hollywood - so I'm doing my part and reporting anyone with brown skin and a cigarette to the proper authorities. Better safe than sorry, I say.

This is exactly why I don't watch the news. The best part was that they knew the guy was riding a Harley, yet they knew nothing else about him.

No different than CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS blaming the wildfires on Global Warming. The news industry in the United States as a whole is a joke.

Anyways, I don't have audio at work but if this is what I think it is, there were documents captured from Al Qaeda suggesting that one form of attack would be to start wildfires in the western United States. So it may be a credible question at least. Arsonists have been to blame for some of the wildfires.

You can't spell "Al Qaeda" without "Arson."

Well - you probably can't in their Godless, heathen language anyway.

i didn't watch the video, but the local radio station reported that a person (supposed terrorist) was in custody and told them that there were other terrorists who had set devices to start the fires at certain times.

is that what was said in the video or how was it worded?

I hadn't heard about that. I did read that one person was arrested after starting a fire and another was shot and killed when he tried to flee after being caught trying to start a fire.

edit: Link

Amid worries of new blazes adding to the firestorm already afflicting the region, a man in Hesperia has been arrested on suspicion of arson, and police reported shooting and killing another arson suspect after chasing him out of scrub behind Cal State San Bernardino.

Law enforcement officials said today that they didn?t know whether either of the men had started any of the more than a dozen large fires that have devastated Southern California in recent days, including the nearby Lake Arrowhead blaze. The brush fire in Hesperia was quickly extinguished by residents?

The confrontation that ended in the shooting death started about 6 p.m. Tuesday when San Bernardino university police spotted a man in a rural area of flood channels and scrub near the campus. University police tried to detain the man, but he got into his car and fled, authorities said. When he began to ram officers? vehicle, they shot him.

The suspect is described as a 27-year-old man with a home address in Arizona. Sheriff?s investigators will search his impounded pickup truck pending a search warrant, Lt. Scott Patterson of the San Bernardino Police Department said this afternoon.

No additional information, including his identity will be released until Thursday.

?We don?t know whether he was an arsonist,? Patterson said. ?What was related by the Cal State police was that they tried to contact him as a suspicious person in a brush area. Things being how they are, there was a suspicion that he could be an arsonist.?

Whatelse are you going to talk about while this is going on and they are doing a live coverage while all efforts are focused on just handling the situation.... emergency crews and officials are not mostly in investigating the matter...

The networks have to come up with something to say and lo and behold, terrorism is still fresh on their minds - not even thinking of any other possibilities and having people go down another chase with that idea.

I am glad that the person they interviewed only gave what was observed. That is what one should get out of it only, not of this crazy speculation that news tries to put on these days.
