Fox News boss told exec to lie about Kerik
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110226/ap_en_tv/us_fox_news_publisher

"Fox News chairman Roger Ailes told a former publishing executive to lie to federal investigators who vetted now-disgraced ex-New York Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik for a Cabinet post in 2004, according to court documents cited in a news report Friday."

Fair and... hahahahhaaa..

So now they even lie to federal investigators to help republicans. Color me shocked. :awe:

Do you really think anybody who watches that trash is "fair and balanced" to begin with?

I believe the term is "allegedly". Basically Regan is claiming that she was told to lie. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if it was true of course, but still.

ROFL when they give him the mic.

They might as well give him the mic.

To put this into perspective, the National Enquirer sells more papers then all the newspapers in the US combined. It's readers know damn well its filled with garbage and half the fun for them is guessing how much is actually true. Shouting "Fox lies!" is probably good for their ratings. It's like the old Soviet Union paper "Pravda" which had no real pretension about telling the truth or distinguishing between entertaining UFO stories and politics. Either way people felt pretty helpless to learn the truth and figured they might as well be entertained if they can't get anything better.

Martha Stewart went to prison for lying to federal agents, and conspiring to do so is also a felony. I think Roger would really look great in a federal minimum detention facility, maybe one near the Texas State facility where his old pal, Tom DeLay, will likely end up spending some time. They could wave across the barbed wire.

That is, of course, if an indictment is actually filed and he's actually convicted. Fat chance, huh?

Martha Stewart cheated people out of their money. When you lie to people who want you to lie them its called providing a service. You know, a religious service, an entertainment service, a political service, etc.

I don't understand why you think the DoJ under the Obama admin would fail to investigate a charge against Fox News?

IMO, they'd jump at the chance if they thought there was anything to it.

I'm not sure how reading comprehension has fallen so low, but the report doesn't say that anyone lied. Instead there are papers filed in a lawsuit which may allege (Please look up the definition of the word) this happened.

Did it? I don't know and neither does anyone else.

I'm not so sure. The Obama DOJ is the biggest dissapointment to me. Seem to have no agenda except protecting the Imperial Presidency.

Didn't the DoJ:

1. Decide to drop defending DOMA?

2. Go after AZ on illegal immigration bill?

3. Drop presecution of Black Panther member convicted of harrassing people at polling place?

Those are just a few of the top of my head.

I suppose you're disappointed in no action against patriot Act? Or maybe no one (AFAIK) from Wall Street being prosecuted for the recent debacle? If so, I'm with you on the later.

But given that Obama was heavily criticizing Fox News (didn't they try to keep them out of WH briefings or something and then had to back off after other news orgs protested?) for quite a while I would expect the admin to go after them for something as legit as conspiracy to lie to fed agents (or whatever the charge might be).

(Not saying the allegation is legit, but the subject appears to be. Might not be anything to the "he said, she said", but IDK.)

Yea, items 1 and 2 are somewhat progressive.

Item 3, are you kidding? Need to have a real case of an organized conspiracy to get all the way to the Fed DOJ. These guys were panthers in name only and anislolated case of clueless F's. I'm sure there up there with that whole Acorn conspiracy in your book though.

Based on WHAT?

Where is one investigation/charge into Bush torture and corruption? Into Wall Street?

That explains the programming, but not lying to federal investigators. That corrupt police chief is a huge embarrassment for Giulani and Republicans.

Item 3 did go all the way to the fed DoJ. The guy was convicted. They only dropped it at the sentencing phase.

Exactly my point. They can argue their programming is merely "entertainment", but that leaves corporate greed as the only excuse for lying. Unfortunately politicians and organizations like Fox news are pretty much immune to embarrassment. They might as well be football stars or rock stars or televangelists for all the impact a scandal like this has.
