Christ - Typical of Fox News anchors to try and turn this into a political pony show for Mitt Romney. If you need any more proof that Fox News anchors are hawking for Romney, look no further.

Fox News co-host Steve Doocy wondered when Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was going to get some of the same benefits from the hurricane with a photo op in disaster-stricken New Jersey towns.

“Over the last couple of months, you have appeared throughout the country, Governor, on behalf of Mitt Romney,” Doocy remarked to Christie. “[W]e hear that perhaps Mr. Romney may do some storm-related events. Is there any possibility that Gov. Romney may go to New Jersey to tour some of the damage with you?”

“I have no idea, nor am I the least bit concerned or interested,” Christie replied, immediately shutting down the idea. “I’ve got a job to do here in New Jersey that’s much bigger than presidential politics and I could [sic] care less about any of that stuff.”

“I have a job to do,” he added. “I’ve got 2.4 million people out of power, I’ve got devastation on the shore, I’ve got floods in the northern part of my state. If you think right now I give a damn about presidential politics then you don’t know me.”

That said - This kind of response really changes my mind about Chris Christie - it's nice to see someone elevate themselves above the political fray. I may not always agree with his positions, but the man has good character.

Asking Christie about whether Romney is going to tour damage in NJ is a political pony show?

Only in your eyes is that anything more than a valid question about a presidential candidate.

I like Christie's response but I don't see how that is a bitch slap. Christie simply said he has more to worry about right now. No duh.

When people are still stranded on the roof/upper floors of their homes is not the time to be asking whether a tour of the damage is a possibility. That's what was wrong with the question.

Romney is also only a candidate for president. He's not even the governor of MA anymore. Why should he even be on Christie's list of people who should be touring damage anyway?

Here's the bitch slap

You guys think I should use the hurricane damage to gain political advantage for Romney" Get outta here!

It's not like Douchy asked a real valid question, "How does the hurricane effect the election?"

Simply bringing the question up is dubious. Christie was there to talk about the disaster - the ambitions of someone who is nothing more than a political candidate (at this point) have no place in the discussion at all. Romey currently has no role in government, nor does he have any role in disaster relief. In respect to this disaster, he is nobody. Nothing.

So we should wait until when to ask post storm related questions? A day? A week? When the rest of the MSM says its OK?

Don't get me wrong, its a dumb question but I fail to see how its a pony show.

Why would Romney tour damage? He has absolutely no authority, involvement, or role in anything regarding government or the hurricane. What ELSE would be it other than a political pony show?

He doesn't have any experience as a governor? He doesn't have any constructive ideas or supportive words for Christie?

I suppose anyone that isn't in authority that tours damage is doing it for the looks right?

Someone who isn't an authority and is trying to win an election is doing it just for looks.

Did you even watch the damned video? They specifically asked the question in the context of the election!

Sure, which he undoubtedly has already communicated to Christie over the phone. No non-political need for a photo op.

When they're running for public office, yes.

Jesus fvcking christ... can't you just say it was a stupid question for them to ask Christie and leave it at that? I know it's not supportive of Romney to say that, but come on...

Thanks JEDIYoda. It makes more sense now that you put it that way. All I needed was a voice of reason. :p

As soon as the rest of the hacks in here do the same. I already said it was a dumb question. I'm just calling out the morons in here who think that everything is done up to be a political pony show.

He doesn't have any experience as a governor? He doesn't have any constructive ideas or supportive words for Christie? -- Christie is the Govenor!! Christie does NOT need Romneys help!!

I suppose anyone that isn't in authority that tours damage is doing it for the looks right? In this case for Romney to tour would be politicizing the very serious situation!!

You my friend are the one who is being bitch slapped..lol
