Experts suggest Hamas overestimated Arab world support for strikes on Israel
If Hamas thought provoking an Israeli crackdown by raining rockets down on the Jewish state would rally Arab nations to its side, it may have miscalculated badly, experts told FoxNews.com.
One of the things that may have affected Hamas calculus in terms of being able to run more risk with Israel is that they sense theres a new Egypt, said Dennis Ross of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. There is sympathy [in Egypt] for what is going on in Gaza, but going to war with Israel is not attractive to Egypt.
The regional picture now, with the Arab Spring, suggests that Hamas will have more support, Abrams said. But it isnt working out that way. The key country is Egypt, which is talking about its support for Hamas but not giving much concrete support.

Even ol' Georgie Bush the Junior understood that democratic governments are less likely to engage in unprovoked wars than dictatorships.
Hypocritical old fools like John McCain who sat down with Khadafy and offered him his support to buy C-130 Hercules planes are going to pay for it. Especially when it wasn't long after that McCain called the Libyan rebels his "heroes". Yeah, heroes he was betraying by selling military hardware to the dictator that was murdering them.
If Israel can somehow avoid a land invasion and come to some agreement again with Hamas that would be the best solution under the current circumstances. The new democratic governments need as much time of peace and tranquility as possible to acclimate thier people to democratic rule and to, hopefully, actual improve things in their countries.
