Wow, this is in my home state and there were countless citizens looking for the 'murderers'. Hoping to get some satisfaction in knowing they brought these criminals to justice.
How wrong they were.

seriously. This was all over the news everywhere when it happened, interviews with those who trained under him, talking about what an amazing mentor he was.

What a piece of crap he turned out to be.

At the time the police department ordered lockdowns, schools were closed off, students couldn't leave at the end of the day for like an extra two hours. Businesses for like a 10-15 mile radius were asked to lock up for the day. The downtown area of Fox Lake shut down the main business district the entire next day, for this manhunt. Then later on the funeral procession shut down a few major roads so people could watch as he's carried away and remember how much a part of the community he was.

Well he'll definitely be remembered now, just for completely different reasons

The day of the suicide, all the media announcements, specifically around the school lockdowns, were saying "Schools will remain in lockdown until the community feels safe."

Back then the first thing that ran through my mind was, who exactly gets to be this representative making official declarations of how the community feels? I mean, it's not like it's just a symbolic position, the decisions being made are directly causing disruptions in the lives of many, many people.

It was a huge deal on that day and for several days after. 3 suspects if I remember right, at least that's what was being reported.

Work for 30 years fapping off on the company dime all to commit suicide eh? What's the point of working if you risk throwing it all away?

wow what a prick.

tired to get 3 people arrested in a staged fake killing.

loser.

Maybe an attempt at insurance fraud on a policy that wouldn't pay out for a suicide.

Just to squeeze in one last criminal act before you go.

I am so glad there wasn't a successful witch hunt for this. Nobody sitting in jail or worse due to the 'evidence' they were starting to disseminate.

Small amounts are less likely to be missed and large amounts may not be needed to pay the bills.

He was a cop. Stealing large amounts was maybe too criminal for his tastes.

I remember how this guy was part of the war on cops mantra at the time. Turns out he was a crooked cop.

How horrifying for the family. Initially he died as a hero, now he died as a scumbag.

Maybe he thought that he deserved extra for all that he did like mentoring the explorer scouts. Maybe he got tired of waiting for God to reward him for being a good boy.

From what I have read his family would have hit the jackpot if he had died in the line of duty. Maybe he figured that once his theft was discovered after his death, the thin blue line would cover for him because he went down a hero (chasing down the bad guys). Not only that but his death at the hands of thugs would support the war on cops bs and airing his crime would tarnish that story. Now his family would be taken care of and he would be thought of as a hero. He couldn't have been more wrong.

Too bad he felt he had to kill himself. He would have lost his job, ruined his career and paid for his crime by doing his time (as he probably liked to say) but that was too much for him. Maybe he shouldn't have done the crime if he didn't want to do the time.

The story got too big and too many people got involved. Otherwise I imagine the three suspects would have been found for the good of the family.

Although, he did try to have the village auditor killed, so I think the fraud and theft accusation was going to be revealed regardless.

More good news:
He's dead.

Even more good news:
Police were actively investigating to catch people like him even before this happened.

Bonus good news:
Police continued investigating and did not attempt to cover it up for him or his family.

But none of the police haters see that side. They only see this scummy criminal reflected on everyone else with a badge. The post above reflects this and completely ignores that this guy was going down even before he did this.

I don't think anyone here hates all cops, maybe just the corrupt and/or sociopathically violent ones.
