Fox has the worst baseball coverage.

Jeanne whatever and Kevin Kennedy have no idea WTF they are talking about, they talk about the goat and Bambino curse way too much, keep talking about irrelavent history to the game, have the worst pre-show video package that doesn't hype up the game well, and Steve Lyons, Tom Brenneman are the worst commentors since Tim McCarver.

Lyons don't know jack, for a guy who sucked as a pro, and Brenneman laughs like a idiot.

Al Leiter is pretty good I thought. I like when he shoots down the drivel that sprews from Lyons. He seems to have a good perspective on what's going on and why.

I have grown to like Tim McCarver more after reading his book "Baseball for Brain Surgeons". He knows a hell of a lot about the game even if he takes himself a little too seriously sometimes.

Lyons and Kennedy are the regular broadcasters for the diamondbacks I believe.

Ever notice how they never shut up about the stupid diamondbacks.


I didn't see the whole game tonight, but at one point when Redman got on base they were discussing how he might be "exhausted" from having to run the bases because he's a pitcher. For Christ sake it's 90 freakin' feet?! I was happy when that other pitcher talking with them today shot them down for saying that.
 
Some of the worst annoucing I have ever heard. Pity us rednecks here in Georgia who get to listen to Tom Rathbun and Tom Paciorek(thats the tool someone was referencing above) do the Braves. The absolute worst announcing duo!

As a side note: I grew up in New York liking the Mets a lot and was subjected to the idiot Tim McCarver's blatherings for many years. Now I live here in Atlanta and have been forced to hear him every year since 1993 doing the playoffs for the Braves games. Horrible, horrible announcer. But hey, at least I only get to hear him in the first round,cuz the Braves are usually gone by then.

Its amazing that Fox spends all of their money on sports and does a great job of covering them. Football on Fox looks like it is from the 23rd century compared to the high school production that CBS puts on. Nascar is unbelievable on Fox and then NBC/TNT get a hold of it and I stop watching it. Baseball is another story though.Too much crap filling the airwaves, too many shots of the dugout,the players wives , the hot dog vendors etc.

I know they are trying to appeal to a broader audience, but really, how many non- baseball people will be compelled to tune in hoping to see Dusty Bakers little boy? Or Jack McKeon's grandkids for that matter?Fox seems out of the loop when it comes to baseball decisions. Horrible pregame, horrible announcers and so-so tv coverage.

I can't stand McCarver and crew. IMO, they provide no real insight into the game except for what is painfully obvious. I think they should get Jon Miller and Joe Morgan from ESPN to do one series and then find 2 other good commentators to do the other series. I also like ESPN's K-Zone thing so that you can see where the ball was located on a certain pitch. Fox should give up and give the coverage to ESPN.

I think my baseball IQ slipped a few dozen points by watching last nite's game. I know I was tired & sick, but they seemed even more pointless than usual. The used up their stock of "wow, we're into extra innings" phrases about 2 seconds into the 10th inning, and then just rambled around trying to think of something to say.

Great game, though.
 
Morgan was horrible in the Cubs/Braves series. He was so obviously biased towards the Braves it wasn't even funny. Now they announcing crew is doing the same in the Cubs/Marlins series. They are gushing over the Marlins and anything the Cubs do well it's like "Oh they are good tooo". :/

Why would the Fox announcers be biased against the Cubs? If anything, they'd be biased for the Cubs. A Cubs World Series just has a much better ring to it than a Marlins series, which translates into higher ratings.

Anyways, back on topic, I agree that Fox's announcers suck. When NBC had the playoffs, they were so much better. Costas, Morgan, and Eucher (sp?) were very good announcers.
 
oh man do they ever suck.

im used to the WGN guys doing the cubs game here in IL. at least you can tell they had passion for the game. these new guys just blow.

Al Leiter, ace pitcher of the New York Mets was the third analyst for Fox. I think he did a pretty good job. Lyons and Brenneman did a good job of ignoring him though. He knows more about the game of baseball in his pinky then Brenneman and Lyons combined.

I feel sorry for Leiter being stuck with two yapping idiots who constantly ignore his input.

Vinny!! He used to do the world series but I guess he isn't cool enough for the networks anymore. I love listening to blowout Dodger games when he just starts telling random stories, like the origin of Crackerjacks 🙂

AHHHHHHHHHHHHH not Costas. He seems to know his stuff but comes off like a moron on the air. I'll take Morgan/Miller over these guys. 😛

Seems like national announcers (vs. locals) suck in general, though. I'll take Dave Niehaus anyday. 😀
