It's been this way for decades. If truth is no concern, you turn to where it has no place, i.e. Fox News.

Looks like that won't change any time soon. Just because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris win and are anointed doesn't mean the blue meanies are going away. They prospered while Obama was president, they cast him as some kind of villain (which boggles my mind, frankly, always has), and they're going to keep barking at the Democrats, even if they take the White House, the House and the Senate.

Yeah, and even if Democrats sweep and implement mask mandates it isn't like conservatives are going to wear them. We're fucked. Enjoy the ride.

If the Republicons are not in power, it actually gives FAUX News more credibility. As amazing as that sounds, the Obama years prove that. They can rant about every decision and everything done. Cry “SOCIALISM!” when higher taxes are passed for the corporations and the ultra wealthy, especially when you increase the minimum wage and start to move to universal health care. I never thought that someone that was not already wealthy would feel that they should support the wealthy because, maybe that could be me. I read a great article about Newt Gingrich (https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2018/11/newt-gingrich-says-youre-welcome/570832/). Seems the years of creating the Washington villain has worked. The distrust from the planned gridlock has made people receptive to this kind of thing. Not sure by the time I pass if the repairs will be done.

there aren't enough covid graves for the non-mask wearers to dig to cover them all, there 's just too many here.

We should have such wise judges as the one in Indonesia who made the mask scofflaws dig the graves for covid-19 dead.
Better yet have them work in a COVID ward at hospital. Let them be unmasked nurses aids for 2-3 weeks. That'll sober those fucks up

The Repubs, given their habit of providing corporate welfare and their need for greed has been priority one over every other concern of the populace, have to lie, cheat and steal in order to flim flam those working class folks who vote for them.

Just look at their top to-do list every time they take over from the Dem's rebuilding efforts: Tax cuts for the wealthy, deregulate the shit out of those protections for the public at large for more largesse and try as they may, attempt to get rid of every fed program that helps the middle class and the poor in order to skate away with more and more of the nation's treasure.

The price the Repub's rank and file have to pay to keep their robber barons in control of the gov't simply does not make any sense at all when they could, among the many other benefits the Dems want to give them, fight for a decent health care program for themselves and their kinfolk, a higher standard of living, better and more affordable access to higher education, etc. etc. especially when their Repub leadership want to take or deny all of that away.

In my area, they might see 2 or 3 COVID patients a day. Your plan would probably backfire, and these folks would come back with stories telling how this pandemic has been overblown.

IIRC, you're in CT, which has fared pretty well seemingly due to NY and MA full lockdown in March, and CT followed suit.

However, in both MA and CT, the possibility of more hot spots is due to people becoming lax with precautions (my personal observation)

In general, I agree with you that context matters. Maybe CT wouldn't yield the expected "shock" that's goes along with the plan, Boston could get bad again. There's a handful of towns statewide that are "red zones". Maybe NYC, but upstate isn't quite so packed and thus lesser problems

It's well beyond time to discuss 1 thing and 1 thing only.. exodus from the former United States of America in a peaceful and acceptable manner.

Let our blue states go!

Well, there's been serious discussion of California leaving the union and becoming a sovereign nation. I'm not against it.

I'm trying to parse this quote from Chris Rock alongside of your post;

"Put it this way: Republicans tell outright lies. Democrats leave out key pieces of the truth that would lead to a more nuanced argument. In a sense, it’s all fake news."
