FOURTH GEAR IS THE GREATEST

Seriously folks, 4th is unbeatable in a four cylinder vehicle. Enough power without the acuteness of 3rd, and none of the lag of fifth. Overall, a it provides the greatest efficacy and comfort over the widest band.

That's pretty much all I had to say.

I prefer 1st gear. Great for cruising around town, and most places don't have high enough speed limits to make me have to shift out of it. I mean, the freeway here is limited to 60mph, and that's just within 1st!

what do you drive with such a high rpm limiter

3rd is the power gear in my Subaru Legacy. It can take from from 20mph to 85mph without much of a problem. Great for passing old people on the highway and backroads...

8500 rpm.

4th is a great gear, you're right, but in my Honda it gets a little buzzy past 2k RPM.

I can't think of a car with an 8500 redline aside from a select few, and even then, I'm not positive they're 8500. ITR? GSR? I'm not sure, but I know they're "up there".

... What car makes you push 60mph in 1st? I can't think of ANY.

My rev limiter in my Miata is 60~ in 2nd gear. 7200rpm.

im guessing something like a civic SI, but the S2000 also has a redline of 8500rpm now. i'd like to drive a RX8 one day and listen to its music =)

Clearly, the dream one.

It really does do 60mph in 1st gear though. 😀

There are a select few supercars that can do it. Generally you need a) ridiculous amounts of power and b) tall gearing for 200mph+ runs.

but the S2000 also has a redline of 8500rpm now.

Actually with the 2.2L its 8000, rev limiter might be a bit higher.

Good guesses. Corvette is about 6k~. Not sure on the NSX or Lambo.

He was lying though, it was the McLarenF1.
