Jan. 22 ? Fossil hunters in China have discovered what may be one of the weirdest prehistoric species ever seen ? a four-winged dinosaur that apparently glided from tree to tree.

Strange.. Anybody into aviation? How would this be better than the traditional two wings?

It wouldn't be better. That's why it's dead.

Yeah, that big-ass asteroid had nothing to do with it.

funny, but x-man is right.

I was about to say, 4 is surely better than 2... what ever happened to evolution? :)

Damn that thing looks crazy. And yeah, like HappyPuppy observed, dragonflys have 4 wings don't they?

The article says due to the layout of the feathers and appendages that the creature would have had trouble flapping its wings. So, obviously, that somewhat negates the benefits of having wings for flight. I doubt, barring explosive bowel movements, that the thing would have had any other means of propulsion beyond flapping.

And yes I know about the big asteroid. Yucatan comes to mind. :)

Could have been like a giant flying squirrl, their "wings" which is really just skin spans between arms to legs so they can glide between trees.

Given another million or so years of evolution I bet such a species could develop the ability though...

Cool find nonetheless!

Dinosaurs aren't insects... It said it was a tree hopper.. so not likely too big, but probably heavy.

Aviation doesen't really have much to do with birds flying.

We didn't really even know all the dynamics to birds flight until recently... Well, recently compared to how long we've understood airplanes.

Just more evidence that Satan has walked the earth, planting lies to lead God's non-Catholic and Jewish children astray...
