I don't really see what the big deal is. Stores have space dedicated to seasonal products, and Christmas is their biggest one. Not only that, but this allows people to spread out their spending, which is good for the store (people more likely to buy more decorations, and then spend more on the actual gifts later on, versus buying both at the same time).
