At the risk of injecting some nonpolitical news here, a plane crashed in a Columbian jungle on May 1st, killing the two pilots and children's mother (the only adults onboard). Four children survived, ages ranging from one to thirteen. After a massive search by the Columbian military and indigenous people the children were found after forty days and airlifted to safety. Apparently they had only minor injuries. I saw a Youtube video from BBC on this and the jungle appeared incredibly dense to me.

An amazing string of miracles IMO.

I had been watching that since the crash happened and was absolutely gobsmacked to see they all survived. So much credit goes to that 13 yr old.

The reason they were rescued was to recover the valuable contraband (cocaine). Which explains the death of the two pilots and the mother. No drugs were found for obvious reasons.

Not so sure if they would have survived if they had not been indigenous themselves.

Probably true, but still an amazing thing. Another startling fact is that all three adults died in the crash and apparently none of the kids were injured in any significant way. And also apparently Colombia kept hundreds of troops, helicopters, etc. looking for these kids for over a month-wow.
